Jim peaked around the corner. He wanted to make waffles for his mommy more than anything in the world, but he didn't know how. So, he crept up to the cabinet and found a pancake mix. He started making them like his mommy had showed him, only to start crying when he noticed that he had made pancakes, not waffles. Of course, his mommy was still asleep, she was in school to be a doctor, she said, so she could help people. Jim peaked out the window, looking for a familiar green car to start rolling back down the street. Nothing of course. His daddy had vanished like one of the magicians that he and Toby liked to watch on TV. They didn't even get to make his bike. His mommy came downstairs just then and wrapped her tiny son in her arms while he cried.
