"He grew up."
"What did you expect would happen?"
Bryce glared at his brother as they walked back into their room, which happened to be right next door to Riley's. The kid was given his own room due to his dog, but he likely didn't know it yet. How did they know this? Because they changed the room assignments the day before and had noticed no one was set to room with him.
"He might be upset about not having a roommate."
Dart shrugged and flopped over onto his bed.
"These things are pathetic."
Bryce gave a slight chuckle as he did the same.
"As comfortable as concrete."
Dartanian grunted in agreement as he stared up at the ceiling. Both brothers were silent for the better half of an hour before Dart mumbled, "He's legal now."
Bryce glared sideways at his brother as the back of his head rested on his folded arms.
"He's going to be pissed at us for leaving him last year."
"We were at his graduation and came back once in a while, just didn't come inside or really show ourselves."
Bryce sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he felt a headache coming on.
"You do understand that will mean nothing to him? We lied and disappeared. You saw how hurt he was when we checked up on him four months later. He won't just fall into your arms because you can now legally bang him."
Dartanian grunted again and turned to face away from his brother.
"And since when have you cared when something was legal? I remember us being the most feared vampires in Detroit not even two years ago, and now you want to tell me that you've been waiting to have sex with the kid until he was legal?"
Bryce watched silently as his brother grumbled at the wall, but then did something he was actually shocked to see. His younger brother, by about four minutes, rolled back over and sat up. He had the most serious looking expression he'd seen on the joker in a good while, making Bryce slowly get himself into a sitting position so they could talk.
"I want him," Dartanian said quietly. Pursing his lips, Bryce fidgeted on his bed a little before leaning his elbows on his knees so he could look at his brother directly across from him.
"Well, what made you hold back this long? You never cared before."
"Bryce, I want him. Like, I don't want to just have sex with him... I-I don't even know what the hell I'm saying!" Dart groaned and fell back, his mattress creaking with the sudden shift of weight. "I waited because I didn't want to have to go away... to make our parents and the elders mad and get into more trouble."
"You didn't want to make him a promise and then be forced to break it."
Dart squeezed his eyes shut and nodded as he felt his bed dip right next to his left leg.
"I just don't know how. He's in the next room. Well, Riley's in the next room. Damn rules!"
Dart rubbed his face feverishly with his hands until he felt his brother's palm gently stroke his hair back. After a few deep breaths, he sat up, hunching a little as he tried to think.
"We need to get Rolland back," Bryce said, determination in his normally-stoic voice. Dartanian nodded, then leaned against his brother as he felt an arm wrap around his shoulders.
