Before we begin, I warn you that a major spoiler alert is in order!
It's going to be understandable for any non Buffy fans, too 😄
This is my first time writing anything - so I'm not very experienced, but I hope it'll turn out legible 😂
I'll update another chapter soon
Enjoy!***

***Cleveland
Summer 2008 - 5 years after the destruction of Sunnydale***
Rain was a light sleeper. She always has been.
So when she heard the strange noises outside she was up in a heartbeat.
15 year old Rain lived in a small town, just on the edge of Cleveland, named 'Bloomington' - and in Bloomington, strange things were always happening.
Always.
The first time she discovered this was 5 years ago, when she was attacked by a monster... Or that's how she remembers it, anyway. She was alone at the park when it happened, so there were no witnesses, but since that day people have been telling her that she must have been mistaken.
Whether she was mistaken or not, from then on she has always been alert.
She remembered it almost too clearly: it's forehead was scrunched and it's long teeth bit into her neck. Rain only survived when she felt a sudden surge of strength at that very moment that gave her the power to ward it away. The strength has been with her since then; she can do things other kids at school can't. Despite her thinner, weaker looking arms, she can lift more and hit harder... Some of the kids at school tease her because of it. Tease her for being different.
Rain wanted to go back to sleep, but her curiosity was deepening - she had to know what the noises were.
With that, she kicked off her covers and sat upright, her hand skimming the scar on her neck as she did. Whilst walking to the window, she passed her mirror, and briefly glanced in it.
Rain looked the same as usual... Except with slightly messy bed head hair. It was a dark blonde and fell into spring-like curls that ended at her elbows, with a blue streak running through the side of it. Her deep brown eyes stared back at her... Intoxicating.
She shook head in an attempt to stay focused and awake, then moved towards the window.
It was hard to see clearly through the dim light of the little light posts that littered the streets, but she could just about make out three men. And they were... Fighting?
One of the men stabbed another, and Rain's gasped in shock. She was paralysed from the fright of it, her eyes not parting from the men. Once the second man was hit, there was a brief moment of silence. Then he turned to dust.
He turned to dust.
Rain staggered back through shock and fear. She couldn't believe what she just saw... No. She mustn't have seen it clearly - she was tired and it was dark, that was all.
Just a trick of the light.
Maybe she had imagined the third man? Whatever had just happened, there were now only two left... But they weren't fighting. Only talking.
