Camila
I lay on the grass staring at the black velvet sky filled with stars and plenty of them, looking for a specific one.

The one that shined the most, Alina, my sister. I tightened my grip on 'fluffy' her favourite soft toy, one that she'd never left go of...

"I love you, I'm so sorry", I murmured.

i spoke to her about anything and everything but was rudely interrupted by the pouring rain.

I ran into the house with fluffy quietly closing the doors and head to her room that I had claimed after she left, laying in the bed once she layed in drawing and reading stories, now looking through the pictures on the wall filled with her lit up, beaming smile that could light up the entire world. I couldn't help but think about her.

the notes we exchanged while having breakfast and dinner at home as our parents fought.

And lastly holding her in my arms one last time before I let her go, let her go alone.

Ignoring the sounds of shattering glass and continuous arguing I drifted off to sleep

*beep beep*
I tossed and turned before shutting the alarm and head towards the bathroom brushing my teeth.

Another year without Alina. I quickly head downstairs to wake my parents up. My dad on the couch with his body partially on the floor surrounded by shards of glasses while my mother's on the bed with her shoes on.This never ends.

"Get lost", she yelled

"Mum, it's Ali's memorial", I pleaded

After what seemed like years they finally got out of bed and got ready.

I ran upstairs to do the same.

I got my licence as soon as it was legal for me to drive, the last thing I wanted to do was be dependent on people who wished I was dead. I got into the car with my parents and drove towards the venue, a place filled with sorrow and pain. The aura depicting loss and grief.

My eyes stuck on the picture with that innocent face of hers and fluffy amongst a bunch of kids from her camp, I quickly wiped a tear and continued on with the memorial noticing a tall figure in the corner of the room distant from the rest with his arms folded and face firm.

I didn't realise I was staring for so long until he made brief eye contact with me and I tried brushing it off by looking away. My parents left halfway through the ceremony leaving me alone.

The event lasted for about an hour and a half. I quickly rushed towards the washroom but ended up running into the same tall figure and ALMOST getting a drink split on me.

"watch where you're going", he groaned

"watch yourself", I replied

I left before he could say another word.

I waited outside the hall greeting and accepting everyone's fake sympathy, after everyone left I head towards the grand piano and sang my heart out.

Tell me, what does it look like in heaven?
Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say?
Does the sun shine bright forever?
Have your fears and your pain gone away?
'Cause here on earth it feels like
everything good is missing since you left
And here on earth everything's different, there's an emptiness
Oh-oh, I,
I hope you're dancing in the sky
I hope you're singing in the angel's choir
I hope the angels know what they have
I'll bet it's so nice up in heaven since you arrived

I stopped as I heard the screeching of a chair turning to see the same tall figure

"So you sing?", he asked his hands in his pocket as he leaned on the wall

"Sometimes", I replied

"Has no one told you it's rude to eavesdropping", I questioned

"The door was open and we live in a free world... country", he replied

"I'm leaving", I grabbed my purse and head towards the door to be met with my car missing

I reached for my purse and quickly looked through it. They took my car and key.

"Fuck", I said under my breath

"Think you could use a ride?", the same tall figure appeared causing the bright sun to disappear as he stood before me.

"From a complete stranger? I'd rather not. But thanks", I walked pass him

"Sure", he replied getting into his car

And as my day wasn't pathetic enough it started to rain

*car honks*

"What?", I yelled

"Pretty sure that was your cue to get in and thank me for saving your day", he smirked

"I'll pay you back", I reply whilst getting in.

"Not required", he says as he turned the heater on.

"I'm not listening", I replied

"Your voice is beautiful", he whispered

"You say something?", I reply

"Thought you weren't listening", he snarkly replied earning an eye roll in return
