Teach Me

Chapter 1

K.J. P.O.V.

My name is KJ Apa. Most people in my high school know me as the nerd, and I agree with most of them. I have the grades, the glasses, and the attitude. I don't care if people call me a nerd. I am just so sick and tired of people pushing me around. People like Reggie Mantle and Chuck Clayton, dumb football players, run the school, and they also run right over me. It's normal stuff like four-eyes and freak that bug me. I just had to have been born with red hair, which just adds to the teasing. Then girls like Cheryl Blossom make it all worse. She dragged me along making me like her, and for a while I did, then I caught her cheating on me with Chuck, of all the people at my school, she had to choose Chuck. I should have known better. But now I am done. I don't know how, but I am finished.

Walking down the hall is like walking on a glass board, in water, and it's full of sharks. Suddenly I slam against the locker. In front of my face is none other than Chuck and Reggie. those overgrown football players have been after me since 9th grade. " Where's my biology homework freak" he yells into my ear. Now there is a huge crowd. " I......I don't have it" I say. I am really going to get it now. Before Chuck puts his fist to my recently repaired glasses, a girl stops him. " Move before I make you move Chuckie" the girl says. Her voice was so demanding, it was kinda cute. She probably wouldn't date me anyway. Reggie and Chuck smirk and turn to the mystery girl. " Aye Dawn looking nice today" they said. They are really testing this girl. This girl Dawn. Dawn... the baddest girl in our school. She skips class and talks back on the regular. Most of the girls hate her except some of her friends. All of the guys ask her out but she loves to reject them. She is everything that a guy at our school wants. I better just walk away before I fall for her like I fell for Cheryl Blossom. Speak of the devil, Cheryl  walks down the hall with her minions following her. " What are you doing next to my boyfriend. Do you want to get with him slut" Cheryl said. She was trying to roast Dawn but I know it won't work. " Hunny, I would slap you, but sh*t stains" Dawn said back, with a big smirk on her face. You could hear all of the oh's coming from the large crowd. I wanted to leave, but a part of me wants to see this happen. Cheryl tries to lunge at Dawn and tries to slap her, but fails. Dawn pulls back her fist and punches Cheryl dead in the nose. Her minions run up to Cheryl and as the teacher starts coming over, I try to leave. Dawn suddenly turns to me and tells me to come with her. Me. KJ Apa. The nerd. Was getting called on by Dawn Cardena. The baddest girl in school. I penguin walked over to her and followed her to the back of the school. I think this is the part where I die. Goodbye cruel world. But she doesn't kill me.
          Dawn comes closer to me, her face red, anger flashing in her eyes. " Why do you let them do that to you!" she yelled. "I mean—" she then cut me off again. " You know what, I am gonna help you" she said, sounding so sure of herself. "You can't live like this anymore." she said, and she was right. I can't live like this anymore. I am going to change. I used to wonder how I would change, but she is standing right in front of me, in a leather jacket and black skinny jeans.
