The town the trio had been was rather peculiar; after finding (y/n) they finally had time to comprehend their surroundings.

The town, which they now knew as Lavarynthia, was anything but modern. There were knights running about, as well as a little market that sold goods.

"So, we're in Labarynthia?" inquired Luke, looking up to meet the professor's curious gaze.

"It appears so, Luke. Although, I'm curious as to how we ended up here." Layton's mind was all over the place; trying to use logic and reason to figure out how they could be here. Alas, this event was far beyond those meathods.

"This is the town Espella spoke of, yes?" (Y/n) asked, her gaze falling upon what appeared to be a man serenading a woman, albeit to the woman's disapproval, though.

"Yes, I believe I remember her mentioning this. It's exactly like the town from her book."

"Perhaps it's best we look around? Explore a bit?" By the time Luke said this, he was already wandering off, looking at the unfamiliar animals and fruits about the market.

(Y/n) followed suit, sticking close by. The professor gave a nod of approval and didn't say anything but followed along as well.

The knights in the area were being loud and jovial. Luke wanted nothing more to ask them questions; to expand upon third knowledge of the unfamiliar town, but the professor did not want to draw attention to themselves. "We already stick out like sore thumbs, so why make it worse?"

Although (y/n) agreed with the professor, she did want answers. Young minds crave that type of thing, right?

@*@*@*@

The group continued walking until their attention was caught by the same pair (y/n) was staring at earlier.

After brief chitchat and a puzzle being solved, a commotion abruptly ended the conversion.

"Professor! Things seem to be a little hectic over there, no?" Luke pointed to the north, and indeed, there was a large crowd. "Can we go look?"

"I think it'd be best, yes." Layton replied. "Please stay together."

Luke and (y/n) intertwined fingers and smiled at eachother. Luke, who wanted to speak but couldn't formulate the correct words, wanted (y/n) to know that she wasn't going anywhere; that she wouldn't be alone. That there was nothing to worry about.

And (y/n) felt protected. With the professor and Luke, she knew there was nothing to worry about. These people were like her family, and she was never letting go.

Huh??? How's that for an update?? I'm trying so hard to keep the writing style the same throughout the book, since I feel like I found a more suiting one for me, which I think is demonstrated in my other book The Lost Cause (it has mature themes, but pls check it out if you'd like!) With summer break beginning next week I'm going to be updating more frequently.
Please let me know how you feel about this chapter! I feel like my writing is missing something, so I'm more than happy to take constructive criticism (just don't roast me I'm fragile pls)
