'BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM'
SHIT.
I can't stand agility practice.
Aunt Cristina had just finished lecturing me about being centred within my mindscape. She had sensed the flux of my powers, and chastised me for letting anger break my hold of control. Consequence?
Agility Practice.
The point was to keep a lid on my 'abilities' despite outside stressors. I had to remain on the ground, dodging explosive projectiles she controlled at the snap of her fingers. If I got hit it didn't hurt much, but it certainly stung quite a bit. It was like dodging mild, magic grenades. I leaped away from another one, rolling into a crouch.
I've been doing this since I was thirteen. I could remember the day my powers came in. I had fallen out of our smallest evergreen tree, trying to climb it and see if I could see over our house. I had slipped and broken my arm, and as I wailed in pain a mini storm cloud formed over the house. My parents had ran outside, daddy trying to calm me and dad trying to reach Aunt Cristina. Ever since I've had to practice everything from levitation to elemental control. Every time I thought I was done some new power was thrown in and I had to hone in on that too, like my recently acquired teleportation.
"Focus, Natasha!"
'BOOM'
One of them went off underneath me as I tumbled away from the last one. The force had me rolling in the grass, stopping a few feet away. I got up to one knee, blowing the largest streak of silver away from my face that had fallen out of my braid. I scowled at Aunt Cristina.
"Thanks."
"You're most welcome."
I struggled to both feet, mentally assessing the damage. Damn, everything smarts. Aunt Cristina dismissed me, and I jogged inside, eager to shower and start my homework. I decided to fly up the stairs. Much to daddy's delight, that seemed to be the power I was best at, and I loved it the most. I'm not cleared to go above sixty feet though. Daddy can fly as high as a plane if he wanted to.
I checked my phone for missed anything, and was called my friend Lexi back. I held the phone between my ear and shoulder, grabbing my underwear, some black track shorts, and my Avengers T-shirt.
"What's goin' on, Lexi?"
"Dude, did you hear?"
"Hear what?"
"The rumour is there are two new people in the pack!"
"Yeah, I know. Brothers, right?"
"Yep. One's thirteen and one's eighteen. I hear their parents were murdered."
"Don't make assumptions like that, Alexandra. That's serious shit, and if they don't say it, you don't think it. Clear?"
"Jeez, fine. Alpha tone, much?"
"Lex-"
"Kidding. Not the point of this call."
"Then what exactly is said point?"
There was a pause, then a squeal. Damn, she can squeal.
"I hear the older brother is sex personified."
"Damn it, Lexi."
"What?! He might be! He's a senior and he's going to school with us!"
"Lexi, you won't likely have any classes with him. Senior, Junior."
"There's our P.E class! It's all four grades!"
"That's a one in fourteen chance, Lexi. But I am kind of curious."
