??? POV:

"Your Majesty."

Looking up from my book, I took in the sight of my general. Head bowed, down on one knee, he awaited my recognition.

"Speak, Crystoph."

"Thank you, Your Majesty. The deed you requested is done."

"Well done, General."

"My deepest pleasure, Your Majesty."

"What of the Vypra scout?"

"Decomposed, Your Majesty."

"No matter. There are plenty more where that came from."

I got up off of my throne, walking over to the large window a few feet away. I surveyed my kingdom.

The Land of the Damned.

I had joined the previous king's army of demon soldiers after my unfortunate and brutal death. He was wary of having a non-demonic within his ranks at first, but I pushed myself harder than any other. I trained, and became the best there was. The fool trusted me undoubtedly. One night, I assassinated him in his slumber, taking his kingdom for my own. The 'faithful' demons fled, but those who believed our status was truly superior to others remained.

"But a grave development has occurred, Your Majesty."

"And that would be...?"

He hesitated for a moment, but spoke in a solemn tone.

"The old king has a son."

"What?!"

"He is a half-breed, and he walks the Earth as one of them. He calls himself Xavier."

I rubbed at the gold Eternity Band on my left wrist. My new body was stronger, but the bonds holding it together were thin. I had sought out the most skilful Enchantress to forge me one. With it my form remained whole.

"Xavier, hmn? Surprising indeed. And he is somehow tied with our target?"

"He claims himself her protecter, Your Majesty."

"Well that won't do at all. We need her to commence with our plans."

"Would you like me to exterminate him, Your Majesty?"

"Yes. Send twenty of my strongest Vypra. Make his death swift. We have no time for mistakes."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Dismissed."

He bowed deeply once more, before turning and exiting the Throne Room. This just wouldn't do at all. My success hinges on the girl. Or more specifically, her power.

I crossed my legs as I reclined on my throne. Snapping my fingers, a figure formed in the shadow portal I had created. A young girl, fifteen or sixteen it seemed, stared back with wide silver eyes. Her hair was long and blond, with silver stripes. She radiated youth and vitality. I smirked.

"Hello, granddaughter."

Boom. There it is. Didn't expect that, did you? Looks like Nat's life is in danger. Can Xavier and her family keep her safe?
