Hey everyone! I entered a short story contest and this is my entry. I was given an image and was supposed to create a title and a story to go with it. It's not my best work but I'm still proud of it.

P.S I won the contest everyone! I'm over the moon right now!

Hope you enjoy it,

Mrs. Mason is getting worse. They’re adding at least three new pills to her daily routine. This means that I have to stop by the pharmacy for her after school today.

“You’re such a darling! You don’t have to do this you know?” Her voice is scratchy.  She’s wrong, of course. At her age she couldn’t do it herself, and she didn’t have anyone else to do it for her. Besides, she lives down the hall from me. “Tell Nicky I say hi.” Nicky is the tall lanky guy from my school who works at the pharmacy. They used to deliver medication, but that stopped about a year ago. Mrs. Malone always asks me about him. Did we hang out? What did we talk about? I swear she’s worse than my best friend.

“You know, I’m starting to think you’re just sending on these errands to set me up with Nick.”

“Would that be so bad?” I laugh. I guess not. Nick is nice and sweet. And he isn’t…unattractive. He’s into is whole geeky thing. He wears glasses and seems to always his hair be perfectly messed up. “See you soon, sweetheart.”

“Talk to you soon, Mrs. Mason.” I hung up, turning back onto the road. The pharmacy is only a few blocks away. The parking lot is pretty small, but I find a spot near the front.  I signal and start pulling in, but a guy cuts in front of me, taking the spot. “What the heck?” I shout, even though I know he can’t hear me.  The man in the car is wearing sunglasses even though it’s pretty cloudy. He gets out of his car and flashes a smile at me. His skin is pale white, and he has long greasy blond hair. The kind of guy you’d think would steal a parking spot. I reluctantly pull out and try to find another spot.

I have to go around back to find a place and I’m bitter when I order the prescription from Nick. “Someone’s a little grumpy today,” he mumbles. I sigh and readjust my hair part so that some of my blond curls don’t fall in front of my face.

I hop up on the pharmacy counter. “I’m sorry. It’s just this guy stole my parking spot.”

“Must’ve been a good spot.” He smiles. Nick always has a way of cheering me up. “You know you’re not supposed to sit on the counter.”

“You know you’re not supposed to wear glasses if you don’t need them,” I retort back, stealing this Ray-Bands from his face. They’re actually vanity glasses, but I’ve caught him with his dad’s old glasses on before.

“They help me fit in with the nerds.” I roll my eyes. Nick doesn’t need help fitting in with the nerds. He’s the geekiest of them all. “They look good on you.” He heads in the back room. Out of the corner of my eye I spot the parking spot thief. He’s still wearing his sunglasses, has his shoulders shoved down, and his hands in his pockets. Over the next two minutes while Nick retrieves the medication, I can’t help but notice the man looking up and down the same three aisles, but never picking anything up. It seems a bit strange to me, but I have more important things to worry about. Nick comes back and starts ringing me up.

“How bad is it?” I ask. He stops typing on the cash register. I raise my eyebrows. “I can handle it.”

“I don’t know,” he replies, shrugging his shoulders. He takes his glasses back and sets them down next to his backpack.
