I open my eyes. Where am I? Does this nightmare never end? I scan the room, it's all so familiar. Why? The door opens with a sudden squeal making my stomach twist and stare over. It's him! I scream "what are you? What do you want?" But I might as well have been screaming at the walls of the room or the battery. Wait, battery?
I felt a sharp pain shoot through my skull and pierce my brain. Everything went dark.
Alone. The fog had engulfed the park dimming the old rusty street lamp. That wasn't there before and what's that hanging from it? A noose?! There he is! Underneath it, still holding those metal rods. I turned and ran.
Stumbling. Gasping for breath. Hide. Have I got away from him? I collapsed into a straggly bush. Its thorns tore into my skin. Is he there? Where is he? Looking around I can see a gate; it must be the entrance to the park. Should I run for it? No! How did he get there? Just outside the gate. His hand rests upon it. How did he get there?
The fog is starting to clear; the moon is a blood red ball hanging in the sky. This feels like a different planet: desolate and twisted. Is it just my mind? Am I insane? I can see all of the trees now, clear in this red glow. There is something there that I didn't see before. Is it dead? I can't tell if it is. There it is, just trussed up like some sort of meat in a butcher's shop. Blood running down it and flies swarming creating a black cloud. It looks human; similar to myself. I almost wish it was.
Suddenly, I hear a noise. Turning towards it I see it's the gate screaming on its hinges. He's gone! Panicking, I turn round scrambling to my feet. A door? Over by the swings: slightly ajar. I feel like I am being pulled towards it. I can't resist. The curiosity is overwhelming me.
Slowly, with that same familar curiosity still gripping my brain. I am being pushed towards the slightly open door. Placing my hand on the handle I take a shaky breath before pushing the door open.
