Chapter 4~

Karma can be such nasty business.

Marisol, the erstwhile professor who pretended to be a maid lied to her employers so she could exonerate her son.

No one would fault her for why she lied, and she was victorious. Though her employers, the Powells, could be vile at times -- but only when they were awake -- Marisol is having that duplicity repaid.

Now that Marisol is settled into her fiance Nick's mansion, his maid Opal is lying to Marisol. Marisol suspects that Opal's son, Ethan, who does not know who his dad is, is actually Nick's. When Marisol insists on a pre-nup, she learns that Nick has bequeathed $5 million to Ethan, fueling her suspicions.

Opal, in an uncharacteristic display of confession and companionship, tells Marisol that Ethan was the result of a rape.

Marisol naturally feels terrible for Opal, believing this ugly story. Opal tells Nick: "I told Marisol you left Ethan all that money out of the goodness of your heart. A deal is a deal."

While that marriage may start on a lie, Zoila's marriage ends with one. Pablo had moved out of their home, saying he just needed some time. When he comes to Genevieve's to talk to Zoila, Genevieve has given her maid a full makeover.

Zoila thinks they are reconciling to attend their godson's graduation party. Instead Pablo tells her that he is taking this woman from work, and Zoila, not being the type to hold back, asks if he had been seeing her. She peels off the fake eyelashes, pulls out the hair extension and flings out the bra stuffing.

"How many more body parts are you going to take off?" Pablo asks her.

"Just one more, and it is going to be yours," Zoila yells.

A little too coincidentally, the florist delivers a bouquet to Genevieve. He's not the usual deliveryman -- and yes, they would know that -- and this hot, younger man asks out Zoila. She does not want to go, but her daughter Valentina pushes her.

"This is the answer to our prayers," Genevieve says. "God has sent you a handsome, successful man you can use to torture and torment your husband. Do not reject this gift from above."

"Well, I do try to be a good Catholic," Zoila says.

Turns out he was a rent-a-stud, and Zoila is initially furious with Genevieve but when Genevieve breaks down and tells her that she doesn't want to see her wind up lonely, like she is, they hug.

All winds up happy between Rosie and Carmen though they fight. Carmen finagles her way into a job working for Spence.

The scene where she translates for a more qualified maid, who only speaks Spanish, is classic. Spence asks if the woman will cook, and Carmen translates everything into a come-on. Hey, Carmen needs this job. But Rosie is upset she took it and asks her to quit, and eventually they agree that it's fine if Carmen stays.

At Rosie's new home, Kenneth thrives under her care and with the use of a computer can now communicate for the first time since his stroke. His nephew, who is also Rosie's lawyer, is sweet on her, and Rosie realizes she does need to move on with her life.

Ethan, Opal's son, has a crush on Valentina Zoila's daughter. They go on a date, and when she tells him she wants to be a designer, he prods her a bit and gives her a present of a sketchpad. When she explains she has to vacuum for the Powells, he does the vacuuming so she can sketch.

And the Powells -- well, at least one couple is having great sex. Though it's at the Powells, the hot moments are not between wife and husband but between Evelyn and security guard Tony.

Evelyn persuades Adrian her husband, that he needs a spa-like setting for a couple of weeks of intensive therapy. This is not wrong, as he has been a nervous maniac since the home invasion.

But her motivation is not that of a selfless wife. As they pack him off in the car, Tony says to her, "How soon until we go inside and take off our clothes?"

"Out of respect we should wait until he leaves the driveway," Evelyn replies.
