Chapter 6~

Opal, the long-term maid to Nick has disapproved of Marisol from the beginning. Marisol thought she could win her over, but has found the maid ornery and oddly protective of her late employer, Nick's wife, who died years ago.

Marisol, who has a penchant for digging for what happened and why particularly when death is involved, has been snooping around about Nick's first wife Dahlia. She is pretty certain that Dahlia and Adrian Powell had an affair. She questions Opal about this while Opal is on a ladder, changing the bulbs in a chandelier. Opal falls and winds up in the hospital.

Opal extracts a promise from Marisol that she will no longer ask about Dahlia. And when Marisol is back at her fiance's Nick's mansion, she's in Opal's room for a legitimate reason - to pack her a bag for when she leaves the hospital.

Carmen who has zero sense of boundaries, is with her and naturally goes through Opal's closet, where there's an array of hideous, practical shoes. They find a locked drawer, catnip to these two, and Carmen picks the lock.

There, they find photos of Opal and Dahlia.

"Are you saying that Opal is a lesbian?" Marisol asks.

"It would certainly explain the ugly shoes," Carmen says.

Opal, back at the mansion, realizes her drawer has been opened. She looks at Marisol who shoots her the slyest, most wonderful smile that says you have not gotten the best of me.

Carmen's staggering lack of boundaries extends to her employer, Spence's nephew, who is staying with them. The nephew, Ty had tried to commit suicide after he was involved in the home invasion robbery that killed Alejandro. Alejandro died in Carmen's arms, and she does not know of their connection because Ty, like the others, wore a mask.

Carmen reads Ty's therapy journal and steals some of his words for a song. By the end, she's performing at a small venue, looking as sexy as ever, and getting noticed.

Zoila also finally gets noticed and her employer, Genevieve didn't have to rent a man for his attentions. At a farmers' market, Zoila chats with a man who chides her for her choice of peppers. They are one-upping each other about the heat of peppers and it turns out that he's not only a dreamboat, but can cook.

This chef invites Zoila for dinner, and when he wants to show her his remodeled bedroom, Reyes gets to show her acting chops. She is more than just a sassy, tough woman, but can also be very vulnerable. He is happy to wait.

Zoila's daughter, Valentina has picked Opal's son, who is also Genevieve's pool boy, Ethan over Genevieve's son Remi. Mother and son team up to stack the odds in his favor, and pronto - Ethan who was wait listed at Brown, has been accepted and could move from Beverly Hills to Rhode Island.

The other emerging story has Rosie who is constitutionally incapable of minding her own business, but whose heart is always in the right place, helping Lucinda find the daughter her father made her up put for adoption when she was a teenager. The reunion did not go as planned when Lucinda learned that this daughter had come looking for her before but Lucinda's father, Kenneth had turned her away.

Lucinda wants to kill her father. She goes after him wielding a bamboo stalk. Now perhaps they could be lethal weapons and he is in a wheelchair, but it does seem a strange choice of weapon.

Yet again it's Rosie to the rescue. This family dynamic is bound to get uglier.
