The hidden truth

Ethan wakes up and I can tell he's dazed and confused but I just grab his wrist and dash out the back exit. He whispers "What's going on?"  I glance over at him with sincere look on my face. "I'll explain everything later but for now let's duck through the fence and go to Asher and Fayre's fort in the south end." Just as I say this I run straight into the fence and topple backwards. Ethan's failing at keeping in his laughter. But he helps me up anyway. I can feel the heat searing into my face. I duck under the fence and start walking toward Fayre and Asher's place. I can hear him duck under the fence and jog up next to me. I know my face is still red, and my forehead kinda hurts, but I'm not mad at Ethan. I can never be mad at Ethan for too long. Not since mom and dad died. I can see Asher and Fayre's fort coming up in the distance and start to briskly walk towards it. I look around to see if there are any soldiers and then crawl into the fort knowing Ethan's following shortly after me."Hey Fayre, hey Ash. Is it cool if we crash here?" I say when I see Asher and Fayre chilling on a few rags on the floor. "Yay sure, our home is your home. But may I ask why the sudden intrusion?" Asher says as he wraps an arm around Fayre. "Sorry that this is so sudden but there's soldiers guarding our fort just a little north from here. They don't know it's a fort but we couldn't stay there, they would be able to hear us. So we went out the back exit and headed here knowing your fort is close and that you would welcome us." I say taking Ethan's hand and walking over to sit next to Fayre. She smiles her bright smile at me which never fails to brighten my day. Fayre and Asher are the only other people in the center, besides us, that haven't been caught and made slaves by the outside. I look at how cute Fayre and Asher look together. They're the cutest couple I know, and I know a LOT of people. Just as I return her smile my gaze slides down to Fayre's stomach. OH MY GOSH! Fayre's pregnant!! I can't believe it, my gaze slides up to her excited and expectant face. "I can't believe it, your pregnant! I've been waiting for this day since I met you two. I'm so excited for you. Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" I ask in one stream of fast words you can barely understand. "It's a girl" she says with a bright smile on her face. I can tell Asher's just as excited as me and Fayre and Ethan has no idea why everyone's so excited. So I look over to him with a big smile and say "Fayre and Asher are going to have a baby girl, Fayre's pregnant!" His confused expression changed immediately to an excited one. Maybe now the outside will have mercy on us. Maybe now we can be happy. Now we have a chance to be happy. Maybe. Just maybe...
