I woke up in a stone, gray cell, hands chained to a wall. Everything aches and my clothes are soaked with blood. The chains are too tight and I'm sure it will leave bad marks. I can't move very much and the chains are making my hands go above my head. I've felt worse pain than this so I suck it up. I need to know what happened to my family.
I start looking around my cell to see what my situation is. I see a small bench with a rag on it and a strong, steal, locked door.
I hear footsteps outside the door and muffled voices. I'm guessing they're guards on duty. I can hear the keys jingling and I know they're coming into my cell. The door opens and two guards walk in.
"Stand up!" One of them orders me. I can tell he's not messing around but I can't help but to say a snarky comment, it's just who I am.
"I'm a little tied up here sir, so no, I can't stand up." I say back, a daring look in my eyes.
"Don't talk back, or we'll have you killed." The other guard replies sternly.
"What do you mean? Aren't I being killed anyway, I've been running for way over the limit to be a slave." I question, I know I've been running too long, my parents were killed for running and it's been years since then.
"We're running low on slaves. Too many are disobeying and being killed, or some like you have been running for too long. So, we're letting the ones who've been running be slaves." He says seriously, a blank expression on his face. Then I remember something, Ethan, Fayre, Blythe, Asher, and Carter. What happened to them?
"Who else did you capture with me?" I ask cautiously, knowing if I say too much, it'll give away the others if they didn't did them.
"You mean that boy a little older than you? He got away shortly after we captured you, knocking out most of our soldiers. There wasn't anyone else, was there?" The first guard replies. I smirk, good old Asher, whenever his family is in danger he always finds a way to protect them.
"Nope, nobody but that guy who kicked your guys asses." I respond cockily. I'm glad I was the only one captured, I couldn't imagine them going through this pain. I can feel the blood rushing down my arms. I can feel all my aches and pains and cuts getting worse. But it's better me then them.
"With that attitude, we'll tell the torturers to not hold back." He states, holding my chin up so he could look in my eyes. Then he roughly drops it and stands up straight. The two guards leave and lock my cell behind them.Asher's POV
I can't believe I let them take her. I could have stopped them. I start heading back to our fort and make sure I'm not being followed. I have to take the long way through back alleys and tunnels but when I make it there the coast is clear.
I immediately run to the safe room in the basement. Fayre, Blythe, and Ethan are there, trembling together, but safe. Tears fill my eyes.
"I've failed you. They took Taylor. We need to save her, no matter what. She does so much for this family, we can't give up on her now. If Carter can escape, we can help her escape. Speaking of Carter,
where is he?"
"I don't know, I think he took off as soon as the guards were gone." Fayre answers.
"I can't believe they took Tay." Ethan says and starts sobbing. Fayre tries comforting him but she's not Taylor, she's not his big sister.
Blythe starts crawling towards me, babbling for me.
"Dada dada!" Blythe babbles. Then she gets concerned, "Where Tay Tay?"
I pick her up and fight back the tears as I hold her close.
"She'll be back soon, Blythey, she'll be back soon." I say convincingly, trying to convince everyone, including myself.
