I was shell-shocked. With my hands on his wrists, his hand still cupping my face, I stared up at him.
Did that really just happen??
He opened his mouth to say something but before anything cam out, someone pounded on the door.
“Guys! Come on! WE’RE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE.” CC bellowed.
Ash sighed, kissed my forehead, and went to open the door before CC broke it down. I thought I heard him mutter something but I couldn’t be sure. I was still staring after him when Jinxx appeared in the doorframe.
“Bella? Everything ok?” he asked.
I shook myself and followed them outside. There was a black SUV parked by the bus. Everyone had gathered near it, Jinxx and I being the last to arrive. Ash was talking to Andy but smiled at me when I walked up.
“Bella what happened to your lip?” Inna asked, her eyes full of concern.
“I ran into someone’s elbow this morning when I was jogging.” I explained.
That got a laugh out of everyone.
“Where exactly are we going?” I asked CC.
He grinned and refused to tell me. Saying it was a surprise. Cursing him under my breath, I climbed into the back of the SUV. It was quite comical to see the guys pile in with all of their long limbs. Andy was too tall for the back, so he drove. Inna and Jake weren’t going, so I was stuck between CC and Jinxx. Ash took the passenger seat, his cowboy hat low over his eyes.
“CC, can I get an address or something?” Andy asked, about to grab the GPS.
“No! It’s already in there. Just drive.” He replied, shoving me into Jinxx so he could reach the front seat.
I looked at Jinxx apologetically.
“Are you ok?” he asked me quietly. I glanced up at Ash. He appeared to be asleep, because he wasn’t moving.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I murmured.
“We’re here!!!” CC sang, as Andy pulled into the parking lot of Haunted Trails Family Amusement Park. The sign advertised three different go kart tracks, a mini golf course, laser tag, a couple of rides, and a massive arcade.
Leave it to CC to find something fun for all of us to enjoy. Ash and I had played mini golf together so many times, I’d lost count. I always beat him. Piling out of the car, my phone started ringing
Mama, just killed a man. Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he’s dead.
“Hey mama.” I said, closing the car door behind me. Ash’s head came up at the word.
“Hey sweetie. You didn’t call me when you got home, so I just wanted to make sure you made it safe.” My mom said, the loud noises of my siblings in the background.
“Oh, yeah. I made it home perfectly. I just got really busy when I got back.” I smiled at Jinxx, who held the door to the arcade open for me.
