chapter 5

Emiley's POV

Megan and Alexa both had a sympathetic look on their faces and they both pulled me into a hug. I pulled away. I didn't need comforting.

"Don't worry, I hate storms too," Megan tells me.

I go and sit down next to the rest of the girls. Megan and Alexa aren't far behind me. We both sit huddled in a corner waiting for Zach.

"Do you think that we'll be ok?" Adley asks.

"Absolutely," Alexa says. But I can tell by the shaking in her voice, that she doesn't think that.

Zach taps me on the back and does a shy wave. Lindsey sees and she bolts up. "Come on. We need to go. Now." She races down the stairs, pulling all of us behind her.

I run right into Jordan's back. "What the hell was that?" I scream at him. He moves to the side and I see it. The building is flooded.

"What I want to know, is how the heck is the damn building flooded? We've been in here maybe 10 minutes."

Christine, Adley, and I all turn to look at the window. There are giant waves maybe 50 feet tall coming in from the ocean.

I was in shock. I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. Everyone else was moving. Running up stairs. I was dying inside.

Zach grabs my hand and guides me up the stairs. All I do is move my feet. I roll my ankle and I snap back into reality.

I pull my hand from Zach's grasp and sprint up the stairs. We get into about what I'm guessing is the 9th floor of the 15 floor building.

We all sit down in the middle of the hallway.

"So do you think... that everyone else is you know... uh... deceased?"

Jordan chuckles and I elbow his gut.

"No I do not." Parker says. Parker. PARKER!

We turn around and Parker and everyone else is standing there.

"Oh my gosh. Sean? Where the frick is Sean?" Lindsey yells.

"He's on his way," Liam says.

I hear Sean's voice through a door.

The expression on Lindsey's face just said one thing.

I'm glad we're all alive.
