A long time ago, The Lord sent his own son down from heaven in an attempt to offer the world salvation. His sons name was called Jesus. Jesus spent most of his life spreading The Word. The message he shared was one of love. The people of this world did not know for sure that he truly was who he said he was, 'The Son of God'. They wondered how anyone could in good conscience have the nerve to refer to themselves as such things. The majority of the people Jesus encountered treated him with pure unadulterated hate and disrespect. Some of those same people even called themselves Christians. Little did they know that Jesus truly was the Son of God and that by treating him so poorly, they were in fact spitting in the face of God himself. Jesus however did not hold a grudge against such actions or words. For he knew that that was his very purpose on this earth. He also knew that this was only the beginning and that it would only get worse as time went on. But that did not stop him or even slow him down. He was sent to this world to save his people, no matter how wrong they were, that is exactly what he was set out to do, no matter the cost. He came to his all every day right up until his last to share the true Word of God the Father. This world was made up of sheep that had wandered astray and Jesus was the Shepherd determined to gather his flock. He was not sent here to save the Godly, and though he was proud of the Godly men, he focused more on the lost souls, the sinners. He spent quality time with them to ensure that they had ample opportunity to be pervious to the Word. Many did not listen to Jesus's teachings, they had better things to do, or did not want to be bothered by a hated man. Some even heard him and refused to listen. but a few got his message loud and clear. Little did they know, though hated Jesus was, he was also a friend of all mankind and yet still they drove him away. Eventually they had Jesus arrested for blasphemy they beat him bloody with whips and chains. Afterwards they forced onto his head a crown of thorns made from a hawthorn tree and forced him to carry a cross made from the Dogwood tree all the way to Mount Sinai. They beat him the entire way, cross over his shoulder. Though he did his best, eventually his body gave out and he could not carry his cross any longer. They forced a Samaritan to carry the cross along-side Jesus the rest of the way. People spit all over Jesus and called him names. They mocked him saying that if he truly were the son of God then he should have God save him. For there is no way that God would allow such things to take place concerning his own son. Jesus did not offer responses to such comments. He knew that he could have his father save him at any moment, but he chose to see this through. For he knew how lost man was in this world and he was happy to be the sacrifice that allowed them to be saved. He loved them unconditionally, every last one of them. Even the ones torturing him at this very moment. He was enduring this for them, for them all. They took Jesus's hands one by one and nailed them to that tree. Then they crossed his ankles and drove a single nail through his ankles, nailing both feet to the tree simultaneously. They pulled the cross upright and Jesus's entire body weight was suspended by three single nails. Jesus was in immense amounts of pain and that really took a toll on his spirit. He looked to the sky and cried "FATHER! WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?!"
Jesus knew exactly why he was on that cross. It was not because he had done anything wrong, he was the definition of the word innocent. It was because that was his sole purpose for being brought into this world in the first place. While he hung on the cross he looked down upon all of his accusers, his loved ones, his friends and enemies. He even saw you and I. Every deed we have ever done, every deep dark secret, everything about us and he decided right then and there that he loved us all anyway. The physical pain was no matter to him, the pain that he found the most difficult to bear was the pain he felt in his heart for how lost we are/were, and what could become of us if not for him. With that thought, He looked to heaven and said, "FATHER!! FORGIVE THEM! FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO!" He hung his head as he felt what little physical strength he had left slip away and he said, "IT...IS...FINISHED!!!" That was the moment that his heart was officially broken for you and for me.

The Lyrics
There came from the skies in the days long ago
The Lord with a message of love
The world knew him not, he was treated with scorn
This wonderful gift from aboveThey crowned him with thorns, he was beaten with strife
He was spit on and nailed to the tree
But the pain in his heart was the hardest to bear
The heart that was broken for meHe came to his home, to the ones that he loved
The sheep that had wandered astray
They knew not his voice, but the friend of mankind
Was hated and driven awayThey crowned him with thorns, he was beaten with strife
He was spit on and nailed to the tree
But the pain in his heart was the hardest to bear
The heart that was broken for meHow can I reject such a savior as he
dishonor and wound him again
I will cling to his cross and repent of my sins
and be willing to suffer the costThey crowned him with thorns, he was beaten with strife
He was spit on and nailed to the tree
But the pain in his heart was the hardest to bear
The heart that was broken for me
