Sunset High School in San Diego, CA. People dream of living in this state, particularly city, but I feel otherwise.
There are pros and cons of being here, pro, my dad transferred jobs and moved our family out here from Jersey. Con, it won't be much long until my parents get a divorce, I can see it in their eyes, pain. What do I care, I don't understand love, the fact that people feel a particular way about someone is just plain disgusting. Keep your disgusting quotes and Shakespeare out of here, because people like me don't wanna see it.
Honestly I can't wait till my parents get a divorce, it's annoying having to stay up longer than I already have, listening to them bicker about stupid things like bills, attitudes, and attention. I mean if they want to argue then leave the house and do it.
Now here I am, my mom just dumped me here, starting at the school rise bigger and bigger each second I looked at it. "Hey!" A voice called from below.
A woman with a familiar name tag ran up to me. "Mrs. Lenyards, your principal," She said shaking my hand, I held back my smirk, "Casey Moore,".
She dragged me into a classroom. Looking at all the students made me gag, all the girls were complete nerds, especially the ones in the front row, and don't even get me started on the boys. I'll say one thing though, they weren't bad, they tried so hard to be and look like some but I've seen the real bad boys, they are back in Jersey, not here.
I spotted an empty seat, the girl who sat beside made me cringe. The teacher that sat behind her desk stood up and pointed at a student, directing her to the desk. The principal disappeared out the door.
The students seemed to look at me in horror, I growled at one.
"Casey, this is Emma, she will be showing you around,". I inspected this girl, she didn't seem too bad, or not as horrible. She didn't wear glasses like the other girls (other girls wore glasses that made them look like complete nerds), and she had a tint of bad girl in her eyes, though nobody else could see it hiding behind her annoying smile. "Hi!" She waved at me all excited. I rolled my eyes giving a slight wave back. I would be going crazy but I swear my own gum had cringed.
After the bell rang Emma directed me to the cafeteria where we sat at an empty table. "So, you always sit alone,". She laughed, I only stared, "No no I sit with my friends over in the back,". I leaned back placing my feet up onto the table, "That's nice,".
She tried pushing my feet down, but she was too weak, I sprang them down. I launched my back forward, face behind dragged. Soon my pointer finger was inches from her nose, "Don't you dare ever touch me!". She scooted away, muttering a small sorry. A lunch attendant slipped over, "Problem ladies?". "No!" I yelled pointing the lady away. She looked at me in disgust and stepped away.
"You have to stop acting like that," A voice from the side said. I turned my head, "Emily is it?" "Emma," she corrected me, even though I already knew. "Well Emma you cannot tell me how to act with my life!" She didn't answer for a while, "Well no I can't, but I'm just telling you what the school rules expect you to be,". "Oh so we can all be the same,". I said rolling my eyes, it was time to take my tone down to a pre-k level so this girl would understand. "No, so we can all respect each other,". She sat back comfortable in her chair, thinking she actually made a good point. I rolled my eyes and belted out a laugh, "Yeah and then we lived happily ever after,". She crossed her arms, a frown appeared, "I'm only trying to help you, I'm your only friend here,". "Hold the phone," I said flicking my hair back, and leaning towards her skinny, weak body "I am not your friend, I will never ever be your friend, like ever. You got that?"
Her frown still remained, but she did a small nod.
She didn't say a single word to me after lunch, she just made sure I knew to follow her wherever she went. After school I went outside, I frantically went through my bag when I realized I had forgotten my prized possession, I wanted to scream.
Then I saw two boys and a group of girls surrounded, doing their thing, I walked over. "Hey!" I yelled tapping hardly on the boy's shoulder. "Can I...bum a smoke?". He looked me up and down, his friend whistled. I looked at the other boy with threatening eyes, he looked down. "Yeah...," he said slowly handing out the stick. I grabbed it from his hand and the girl lit me a light. I felt warm and good inhaling the first breath, I haven't smoked in two days, I haven't been able to get away from my parents, that's why. Maybe school isn't so bad for this particular reason. I exhaled, soon I was impressing them with how much smoke I inhaled without breaking a sweat.
"You know you shouldn't do that! It's not good for your health," a voice yelled from behind me. We all turned to see a teen boy, he had that generic 'hot guy' look upon him, though it didn't phase me.
"Awh look guys, Lewis decided to show up!" said the guy who spared me the smoke, the girls laughed and laughed. After a while the girls were now mocking him, "Hey baby Lewis, you ever heard of a fire?" They lit individual lighters to mock him. He crossed his arms, then the girl next to me decided to be even more annoying, though I wasn't going to tolerate it, "Well baby Lewis, you-," I cut her off, "Who are you dweeb," I said walking towards the teenager. The girls were in shock, the boys watched. "Why does that matter?". I lifted my eyebrows, rolling my eyes, "It doesn't, I was just wondering why a dweeb like you thinks he has the right to talk to people like me,". The boys went crazy just freakishly clapping, while the girls looked at each other. If they all thought they'd have a new playmate, they're wrong.
"Fight me!" He yelled taking off his yellow-stained jacket.
"Alright," I said placing the dangerously lit cig on my behind my ear, "I'll take 'ya,"
