"What do you want." I question because unless she needs money or my phone I doubt my sister even knows my name.
"Oh you know have a little sister time..with my favorite sister in the whole world.." she says sweetly
" I am your only sister Teri." I say flatly
"It's just a saying." She twists her dark hair around her finger.
"I don't have any money." I say without looking up from my phone
"I'm not here for money...not this time at least.." She says her smile not changing
"That's a surprise." I say squinting curiously. She takes a sharp breath and exhales slowly.
"I was gonna ask you about your new little friends do you know if the brown-haired kid has a brother?" she asks flipping her hair. I throw a pillow at her face. "Get out." I say smiling she's so stupid. She stands and laughs
"Oh by the way mom wants to see you something about a babysitter.." and with that she turns and leaves.
I groan loudly and throw myself on the floor followed my dragging myself down the stairs I stand lazily in front of my spawner
"Whaaaaaaaat?" I say dragging the word like it could go on forever.
And miraculously my mother looks up from her..whatever she's doing and looks at me for more than a second for the first time other than when I was born.
"So today, I met this lady that lives about a block away from here and since your sister will be leaving for...whatever reaso-"
"College tour!" Teri chimes in
"Whatever. And I will be leaving for uh..'business purposes'. And apparently she is a nurse.." she blabs on
"And this is relevant why?" I ask bored.
" She agreed on watching you for the while I'm gone-" she says her attention span slowly fading away.
"You're letting me stay in the hands of a complete stranger?! " I ask in shock
"Not at all, I know her name. it's...its....Nia?..Nela..oh well it's not important the thing is it's settled. Now get out of my face."
And just with that I'm sent off my future now determined by my mother. What if this Nela lady is a complete psychopath that murders me the second I say "Hey, my name is Viole-wrdghashkigaadghvcgkiyg"
Boom. Dead.
Or she could be one of those crazy cat lady's and as soon as I walk in 30 Siamese cats attack me and I walk out looking worse than the lady from Edward Scissor Hands. I shivered just to think about this Nela person.

Saturday

I walk to the kitchen exiting my room for the first time in the whole day I open and close the food-closest that some people refer to as 'pantries' but I think food-closest makes much more sense. I open a bag of chips and eat as I watch my sister run around like a maniac hauling things into the car yelling that she had to leave.
Mother trotted down the stairs looking like a jewelry display case. Did she not realize she would be going on a plane? I bid my sister goodbye and my mother said she would come back to just drop me off at Nelas place and then she would drive away to the airport and I wouldn't see her for a while hopefully a long one. I was thankful for that.

Vlad's POV

"Wait..so some person is just dropping their child off here? with you? with me?" I questioned furiously, I didn't want to have a walking blood-bag roaming around too much of a temptation.
"Vlad. I tried to stop her but she insisted and handed me a check begging almost. She had no other choice. She didn't think leaving her 15-year old alone in a new town, for a few weeks was safe."
"Oh but leaving her with a vampire is?" I was irritated
"Vlad at least try. For me?" she looked at me her eyes kind and pleading.
Ding-Dong
The doorbell echoed through the house. Nelly opened the door
"Hello, come in, come in. Im Nelly so nice to finally meet you..." Nelly cooed
I rolled my eyes in disgust, this should be just great.
A girl walked in she had dark layered hair that grazed the small of her back with long razor-cut bangs that almost completely covered her left eye. She had big dark-green eyes traced around in black. And long lashes that seemed to wave at me every time she blinked she was wearing skinny jeans, black converse and a black hoodie with a band name printed on it.
That's when I recognized her, the girl from behind me in English. This would be just great..

Violet's POV

"Oh, thank you. Im Violet, Violet Heathen." I suddenly felt like I should apologize for my mother.
"I-uh, I'm sorry mom just kinda dumped me on you, she tends to do that a lot.. I'm sorry if I messed up your plans or something.." I stammer
"Oh don't worry about it sweetheart." she smiles
"we'll make sure you feel right at home won't we Vlad?" My heart stops at the mention of his name, No it can't be him.
" Thanks." I say struggling to speak
" Oh. I really hate to do this but I gotta go.. you don't mind being alone for a little, while I go to the store real quick?.." She almost asks but doesn't wait for a reply before she walks out the door.
"Vlad right?" I ask cautiously approaching him he looks up momentarily and nods.
" I like it. " I say in attempt to chisel away at the silence.
"Do you want to like sit down or something? " wow, that's the longest sentence I've heard him say, ever.
"Yeah.Thanks " I mumble taking a seat on the couch one cushion over.
Seconds feel like hours in the long silence between us.
" Have you worked on the homework at all? " he asks casually
" Nah. not really theres just all these dumb theory's on vampires.. Silver, Garlic, Holy Water..Its just dumb and then the whole 'wooden-stake-though-the-heart-thing' I mean honestly who wouldn't that kill.. " I say my lips threatening to smile.
"Oh, I know right." He smiles
Conversation slowly starts to flow between us and for the first time in quite a while I feel like I have a freind, or at least the start of a good one.
Nelly comes back carrying two armfuls of groceries.
"I hope you like spaghetti."
