Thank you so much for reading.

Orlando has called about a hundred times but I do not answer any. He doesn’t deserve it. He has sent multiple texts.
Orlando: Please. Pick up the phone.
Orlando: Olivia. I can explain.
Orlando: Baby. It’s not what it looks like.
Orlando: Please. Let’s talk about this.
I ignore all his texts. I am furious. So furious I can actually commit murder. I am back at home. I know Orlando will follow me. I am patiently waiting for him.
“Welcome Miss Fox.” Laura says.
“Hey. Olivia. Wait. Are you okay? Where is Orlando?” Carl asks.
“Laura. Carl. I need you both to leave. I am giving you the week off. I need you both to leave now.”
Laura looks at me with confusion dancing on her face.
“Olivia. What happened? Did Orlando hurt you?
“Are you both deaf? I said you should leave. Now.”
I am not thinking. I need everyone out.
They go into their rooms, pack their stuff and come back to the sitting room.
“Whatever you are going through, I hope you’ll be brave.” Carl says.
“Bye Miss Fox.” Laura says.

Just as I thought. Orlando shows up at my front door in the evening. My throat hurts from too much screaming. And my hand is sore because I punched the wall. I open the door and walk back into the sitting room.
“Baby…” he says as he follows me in.
“Its Olivia to you.”
He signs deeply. “Olivia. I am so sorry. I should have told you. I should have.”
I look at him and I do not know exactly what I feel. No. Actually I do. I feel betrayed. I feel stupid. I feel like a pawn in their game. They deceived me. Both of them. I want to slap him. I want to slap him so hard. And I do. I slap Orlando but it is not enough. I slap him again. He does not move. I begin to hit him so hard on the chest till I am out of breath. Then I fall to the ground. Crying.
“Olivia do whatever you want to do to me as long as you will forgive me.”
“I can never forgive you. Orlando I can never forgive you.”
“Olivia Yes. I admit it. Mable came to me. She told me about your situation. She thought if a man came around you and shows you love and attention, it will help you get better. She said sex was an escape route for you. Always has been. Olivia I refused to help her until she told me the reason why she wants to do it. She told me she’s guilty because she was sleeping with your husband and she knows she is the reason why your husband and child died. Olivia. I accepted to do it. Not for the money she was offering. I was never going to take that money. I did it because I have been there. Olivia I felt your pain even if I didn’t know you yet. I had amnesia for almost a year because of an accident at work. I couldn’t remember my family, my friends, anything. So I knew. I knew how difficult it was for you. For somebody to be in a helpless situation. I didn’t plan to fall in love with you. Yes the plan was to show you attention, make you want me then fuck you. It wasn’t in the plan to lose my heart to you.”
“So there was no brother or colleague in the hospital?”
“No. Our meeting was planned.”
“The daisies, the swimming pool, the Jigsaw puzzle. She told you didn’t she? She told you my favorite things and you used it against me.”
“She told me your favorite things but Olivia I never lied about my feelings. Yes I knew daisies were your favorite flowers. I knew you love to swim and I knew you love playing Jigsaw puzzle because Mable told me. But Olivia, all the emotions surrounding these things were real. I really wanted to give you flowers because we had a connection the first time we met. I took you to the club house to swim because I wanted, I needed badly to see you happy. Olivia.”
Everything is becoming chillingly clear.
“Oh my God. Do you really live next door or was it planned too?” Orlando doesn’t say anything.
“Will you fucking answer me? Do you really live…”
“Yes. I really live next door.”
“How much? How much did Mable promise you?” I am choking with rage. “Answer me you bastard. How much?”
“A hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Olivia listen to me. I was never going to collect the money. I don’t need the money.”
“So you did it just so you could fuck me? Repeatedly? You accepted to fool me just so you could fuck me? I trusted you. I trusted you Orlando. You are such a jerk. You are a heartless jerk. I gave you my heart. Was it also a lie? When you said you love me? When you said you’d never leave me?”
“Olivia I swear to you. I love you. And I mean it when I say I will never leave you.”
“Liar.” I yell. “You know what? You don’t owe me any more favors. I liberate you from your promise. Get out of my house and get out of my life. Make sure you collect your payment from Mable. You did an excellent job.”
“Olivia please don’t do this. Olivia I’m begging you. Just listen.”
“Orlando. Get out. Get out.” I yell.
He looks at me for some seconds and leaves and I begin to sob. Orlando I trusted you. How could you? How could you? I cry myself to sleep.

I wake up the next morning because of the loud persistent knock on the door. My head aches. All that shouting. And crying. And heartbreak. I slept on the hard sitting room floor. My entire body hurts. I walk to the door and open it. It is Mable. Orlando must have told her I know the truth.
“What do you want?” I ask her. So coldly.
“Olivia. Let’s talk about this.”
“About what? About you being a conniving, heartless, desperate and conceited bitch? Sure. Let’s talk.”
“Olivia. Don’t listen to a word Orlando says. He is trying to make me look bad.”
“Can you listen to yourself? So are you saying Orlando is lying? Are you saying you weren’t fucking my husband? Are you saying it’s not your fault my family died? Are you saying you didn’t ask Orlando to make me feel better by fucking and deceiving me because your conscience couldn’t handle your evil deeds? Can you look me in the eyes and say all I said are lies and you had no involvement with any of them. Can you?”
“I am guilty of everything you said.” She cannot even look me in the face.
I let out a short cynical laugh. “Then we have nothing to talk about.”
“Olivia Cosmos…”
“Cosmos what? Huh? Cosmos what? You cold-hearted bitch. I called you that night. I told you I found out my husband was seeing someone else. What did you tell me? What did you tell me you animal?”
“Cosmos and I were together even before he met you. We were in love with each other. Remember the guy I always told you I wanted you to meet? It was Cosmos. To my greatest surprise, one day he tells me he met a wealthy girl. An heiress. He said he was going to hang around her for her money. I had no idea it was you. Until the day you introduced him to me as your boyfriend. Olivia I panicked. I loved Cosmos so much and I didn’t want to lose him. I tried to talk him out of his plan to no avail. He told me he loved me but he was going to marry you so he can steal some of your inheritance. I should have told you his plan. I should have been your friend but I loved Cosmos with my life and I didn’t want him to leave me entirely. I didn’t want to upset him. So I chose him. I let him marry you even though I knew all he had towards you were bad intentions. I was still seeing him even though you two were married. When that fire happened that night, I felt so guilty. I knew you confronted Cosmos and I figured you both fighting caused the fire. Olivia I am so sorry.” She is shouting and tears are falling from her eyes but I don’t care.
“You are a bitch.” I yell into her face.
“You are a bitch too.” She yells back. “All my life, I have done every fucking thing for you. As long it will make Olivia happy then do it Mable. I have sacrificed so much for you. It was always okay for me to be unhappy as long as you were happy. Remember Carl? I had a big crush on him when we were kids but Princess Olivia in her castle did not notice and what did you do? You slept with him. Then I fell for Cosmos and you stole him too. You just told me to move to San Jose because you needed someone who would always clean up your mess. Not once. Not once Olivia did you ask me what I wanted. All that mattered to you was what you wanted.”
“That’s not true. That’s not true and you know it. Don’t make me look like a bad person because I am not. Mable you were my best friend. I treated you like a sister. I shared everything with you. I never stole anything from you. You know why? You never told me they were yours to begin with. Mable you betrayed me. You lied to me. You destroyed my trust in you.”
“Olivia.”
“And Orlando? Why did you do that to me?”
“I hired Orlando because I wanted to see you excited about something again. You know how you always got excited when you saw an attractive man? I thought it would give you the will to talk. To move on with your life.”
“So you decided to play God. You were fucking my husband. You were my best friend. You were Shirley’s godmother. Mable. I am shocked beyond words that you could do this to me.”
“I am sorry.” She is sobbing.
“A hundred and fifty thousand dollars. How were you going to get that amount of money? Mable are you stealing from me?”
“It was Cosmos. He made me keep some of the money he took from you.”
“Can you answer this last question? Did you fuck Orlando?”
“Olivia that was long before he met you.”
“Mable get the hell out of my house before I hurt you. Don’t let me do something that will take both our lives. Leave. Now.” I chucked in rage.
She sobs and runs out of the house. Everything she did to me hurts but Orlando hurts the most. I cry for some hours. Then I run outside, and zoom off in my car to a hotel.
