Alex' POV:

Oh joy! Ms.Cobbler was assigning us a coloring project today! I was so excited as I obediently listened to what the teacher was telling my kindergarten classmates! "Okay, class! Today we will be coloring fire trucks!" Ms.Cobbler chirped as she passed out worksheets with colorless firetrucks on them.

I reached inside my Disney Princess backpack and searched for my Crayola box of crayons. I took out my pink plastic pencil box covered in Cinderella stickers but I still couldn't find any crayons! I must've left them at home. Oh pooh! I sighed and spotted Liam across the room. Maybe he'll let me borrow some crayons. I skipped over to him with my sheet of paper in hand.

He was sprawled out across the colorful rug, coloring his fire truck, just like all my other classmates. "Hi Liam!" I beamed, sitting down next to him. "Oh, hello Alex!!" he said putting his crayon down to talk, "I like your dress!!" he continued. I was wearing a blue and white checkered dress, kind of like the one Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz wore.

"Thank you! I like your Toy Story backpack!" I giggled looking at the bag on the ground with him. "So, I was wondering if I could borrow your crayons?" I said. "Of course! Go ahead!" he replied, going back to coloring. "Gee, thanks!" I said plopping down next to him. "Hey, Alex?" Liam asked stopping what he was doing. "Hmm?" I said looking up from my half colored truck. "Wanna be best friends?" he asked. Oh joy! I love making new friends! And Liam seemed pretty nice. Plus, he had lots of crayons. "Okay!" I replied eagerly. He reached for his Toy Story backpack and took out his Woody doll that he carries everywhere. I saw him with it everyday at recess.

"Here you go! This is to show our friendship!" he said handing me the doll. "Are you sure, Li?" I asked, eyeing Woody. "Of course!" he replied placing it in my small hands. "Well in that case..." I said grabbing my bag and taking out my ragdoll, Tom, "you can have Tom!" I continued passing him Tom. "Gee, thanks!" he beamed, holding Tom. "Best friends forever?" I asked, holding out my pinky out. "Best friends forever!" he chanted, graciously intertwining out small, chubby pinkies.

                                                   -----11 YEARS LATER-----

Today was the last day of school, me and Liam are 16 years old now. Liam and I were walking to our first class, maths. We both sucked at it, that's one of the many things we had in common. He seemed a little uneasy today, I could tell something was wrong.

"Hey Liam, is something wrong?" I asked, studying his face. He looked worried and a bit guilty... "Erm no. Can we talk after school?" He asked as we approached the classroom. "Yeah, sure!" I said and we walked into the classroom.

                                   -----5 HOURS & 59 MINUTES LATER-----

Alex' POV:

I was sitting at my desk, tapping my neon green mechanical pencil impatiently on the hardwood desk, waiting for the bell to ring as Mr.Howard was explaining the kind of work we would get next year. I didn't want to worry about next year, I wanted to focus on having the best summer ever, with Liam!

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!! The bell rang and everyone whooped and hollered throughout the halls. I said goodbye to all my friends and went out to the front of the school to wait for Liam. I slid down the brick wall and sat against it, waiting for Liam to come out. I got out my iPhone and texted him.

To: THEE BESTT BFF EVAA: Waiting out here so we can talk!

I slid my phone in my backpack, but it ended up buzzing a few moments later.

From: THEE BESTT BFF EVAA: Kay, on my way!

I smiled at the way he unintentionally rhymed. I waited a few more minutes before I saw Liam walking out the gates. I smiled and got up, grabbing my red and brown plaid tote, and walked towards him. "So what did you need to tell me?" I asked shifting my weight back and forth on my toes and heels. "Erm, let's go across the street to McDonald's first!" he replied, grabbing my wrist and skipping us over to the fast food resteraunt.

Liam's POV:

How am I going to break the news to her? What if she gets mad? She is my best friend, she should support me, not get angry with me! But I don't want to risk loosing her either... I should've told her about this last month! I just have to stall her a bit more, so I can avoid the topic and buy a little more time. I grabbed Alex' wrist and skipped us over to the McDonald's across the street. Her chesnut brown hair flew behind her as she skipped along with me. It was a bright, sunny day here in England and Alex was giggling and skipping with a brown pair of sandals and she was wearing some aqua blue shorts with a dark pink top. (A/N: Outfit at the side >>) She was truly beautiful, but she probably didn't feel the same way I felt about her.

We arrived at McDonald's and we stepped inside, a cool air conditioned breeze hitting us. It wasn't too full because most of the highschool kids went to Trent's house party. Alex and I were always the 'good' kids in school so we didn't really party, nor did we drink.

I walked up to the counter with Alex to find a guy about our agewho looked a lot like Zac Efron. "Hello, can I help you?" he asked. "I'll take a coke," I replied. "And for you gorgeous?" he asked Alex and winked at her. I scowled at him when she wasn't looking. "I'll have a strawberry smoothie, please," she relpied politly. She took her wallet out but I stopped her and said, "It's okay, I'll pay." "Liam, it's fine you don't have to," she said. "But I want to," I said back handing the cashier the money. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Of course!" I replied.

After we got our order, we sat at a table. "Liam, are you gonna tell me what's up?" she said taking a sip of her smoothie. "Uhh yeah. Do you remember when I tried out for the X-Factor 2 years ago?" I asked. "Oh yeahhh! What about it?" she asked. "Well I auditioned again a few months back, and that was the reason behind why I couldn't hang out as much with you. I got in but last week, I didn't make it as a solo. Nicole called me and four other boys and said we could pass as a group. But I have to go away for a few months or so, so the band and I could work," I blurted out. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

She looked gobsmacked. "Liam... why didn't you tell me?" she asked looking hurt. "Alex... I'm so sorry. I didn't want to get embarrased if I didn't get in!" I replied fumbling with my thumbs. "Whatever Liam. I have to go because my best friend since kindergarten didn't bother to tell me something so big and is going away for who knows how long! Just answer one question for me. When are you leaving?" she asked slipping the handle of her bag over her shoulder. "Tomorrow," I replied. "Unbelievable. Have fun with your fame, but I'm done supporting your singing," she said walking out. I sat there for a few minutes before processing what just happened.

I ran out and saw Alex across the street walking on the sidewalk. I chased after her. "Alex!!" I shouted, catching up to her. "Alex! I'm sorry!" I apologized stepping in front of her. "Save it, Liam. I'm done being 'best friends' with you. I made a big mistake 11 years ago. Probably because I was young and stupid. Goodbye, Liam. See you around," she said, and with that she ran off.
