Forgiving Past

The dark night seemed to pass by slower as I look out from his window , the buildings moved through the midnight air, seemingly making the city brighter.

Jake wasn't about to strike up a conversation. Not with this weather. Not with the dark. It reminds him of that day.

Think of something to say girl!

Sometimes the mind of a women like me can make a person go mad.

"Th-thank you again, it is better to be warm then freezing half to death out there." I say softly, brushing a lock of red hair behind my ear as I take notice of his fingers tighten on the wheel as he looks to me, his eyes show a forest of emotions. He seems to care to much of me. It bothers me.

"Alice, you know to take a cab home, as well as leave at at least ten O'Clock to be safe!" His eyes were flaming with worry as he pulled into a dinner. "I'll get you a hot chocolate, or something warm, seeing that you are still shivering here." He shrugs off his large sweater and hands it to me. A ghost of a smile appears on my chapped lips as I take hold of the warm sweater.

"Thank you." I say smiling at him as he nods walking into the dimly lit diner.

It wasn't strange for Jake to be silent, I never once judged him.

Flashback ;

Police were crowded around my friends house, my daddy took my hand as he pulled me away from the scene, telling me,

"No little girl should see what has happened."

It wouldn't stop a young girl from finding out what was going on with her best friend.

"Jake!" I yell out as I see him sitting on the back of an ambulance, his black hair matted to his pale face, his eyes showed fear as he looked up at me , green eyes wide.

I didn't see the blood.

I didn't see the cuts.

I didn't see the body.

Flashback ends:

My hands clutch the warmth of the material, I fight back the tears that threatened to fall on my already reddened from the cold outside.

Rain pattered against the windshield as I pull the cloth over my thin body, it is a lot bigger then I thought it would be, but I am a small women.

My thoughts were interrupted by a warm sent filling the air, and also the loud groan of Jake as he enters the car along with another man. I turn as I see my other friend Keith , his blue eyes shine as he smiles and waves at me.

Poor Keith couldn't speak without stuttering, a speech problem ever since he was a child. Mind you, he does have the dreamy looks. Blond hair, blue eyes, kind smile and a sweet personality.

But still, not my type .

"Saw him in the diner, he wanted to hang out with me." Jake replied  his eyes show kindness for the younger teen.

Long ago Keith was actually beaten to near death by his so called father. Along with that he was thrown out at the young age of thirteen.

He is seventeen now, still younger then Jake and I, us being nineteen and Jake twenty .

We pity the kid, he never really had a good life, having to find friends to help him live.

Mainly having to live with Jake and I .

"I understand, it's cool, I have some exams to study for, and I could use his help." I giggle as I look back at him, seeing his nod and smile .
