What was the inspiration for this series?

I was reading a interview with a manga author who said that her recent work was inspired by her family. I wondered if I could put my family into a story but the manga genre didn't fit. Somehow the potterverse did.

Did you always plan on making essentially a book ?

Abesolutely not. The origional story was a three chapter short I read to my sister over the phone. She noticed that I hadn't paced it out over seven years of schooling. It was just about the sisters then...no secondary characters. When I begrudgingly said I could expand it and what it would take to do all that...next thing I saw my computer screen had a outline on it and new character basis. After that I had to make a chapter list for each plot point, origionally 54.

So which characters are which?

The four Duffreys are charactictures of my real family. My father also got a secondary character David Searle, and I kept him because he was useful. How the characters are balanced is not necessarily true to life. Stephen was a complete fabrication and not based on anyone. If anything, he is simply myself genderbent. The rest were just random pieces of people I had met. My sister recommended Parker's emotional growth over supporting Stephens love for Anna even though he came from a broken home. I intended him to stay a bully for much longer but the story moved the plot along faster than I planned.

What time does the story take place?

Originally I was going to let the reader choose wether it was before, after or in a different reaility from HP cannon. Eventually, I settled myself on the fact it predated Harry. I left some hints from Pottermore facts thoughount the story to tell a hunter it was the early to late sixties. This means that the main characters children will be in the same class years as Bill or Charlie Weasley. Voldemort at the time of Anna's schooling has just left working at Borgin n' Burke's and headed into eastern europe.

I saw something that didnt make sense...

So did I every once in awhile. My favorite was explaining the basis and limitations of the founders curse to my uninterested husband. When I eventually got to the salamander eggs at the lake, he mentioned they didn't have shells. I had been imagining gecko's. You'll notice instead of fixing the problem I wrote around the problem that each clutch was in a protective shell. I had to do this kind of thing in a few places, especially since Pottermore made some birthdates cannon now that didn't fit my story. Since fanfictions cannot be monetized, I saw no reason to heavily edit this work. As long as it is readable, that's fine with me.

Will there be a sequel?

 If I did it would likely overlap cannon which would be difficult. It's more likely that I would write a spin-off. Anyone interested in the Rosiers?
