After three weeks we finally caught a break. They had tracked Cleminson to a place where he had been keeping the girls. One of the girls he had taken had smart parents. She had a mental disability that always had her wandering off so the family put trackers in all of her shoes.
"You ready for this Vi?" Davidson asked and she smirked in reply. The swat team and her swarmed the building. Cleminson was with four little girls, all crying and in need of their clothes. He pulled a gun and fired blindly. She pulled the trigger, her shot landing in his skull but his shots did some damage. Most avoiding her vest. She hit the floor, her head bouncing off the concrete floor.
"Viviana!" Davidson yelled but he sounded as if he was miles away. She couldn't keep her eyes open, eventually giving in to the darkness, a small smile on her face, knowing she got him.
Danteous had been in a meeting when Cole bursted through the door, tears down his face. "What happened?" Danteous said. "Viviana, she was hurt. She's in the hospital." He said his voice hoarse. Danteous looked at the men, "I'm sorry, but my girlfriend needs me."
They nodded in understanding as the two men rushed out of the office. Danteous looked at his phone and saw he had missed several calls from Zeke and Cole. "Do her parents know?" Danteous asked. He nodded, "They're waiting at the hospital now." The drive felt like it took forever before they got to the hospital.
Zeke, Davidson, and her parents were all waiting outside of surgery. "What happened?" Danteous asked the two who had his answers. "We got Cleminson." Davidson said. "We had gone into the warehouse and he fired shots at her, all of them missing her vest, as if he expected it. One hit her in her left thigh, the other into her right arm. She got him though. It took her only one shot to down him, a bullet to the head. When she passed out, she had a smile, knowing she got the fucker." Zeke nodded, "She's always been a good shot."
Cole sat in a chair, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. Danteous sat next to him, taking his hands, "She's strong. She'll be fine." Cole started crying, "She's been hurt enough Dante. She's our Baby Girl." Danteous kissed his forehead, "I know, but you know as well as I do, that she enjoys her job very much."
"What has her job earned her so far?" Cole argued. "Nine hundred seventy two." Zeke said. Everyone was confused. "In her life time she has saved nine hundred seventy two people. As an officer alone she has saved seventy six people." He explained. "What her job has earned her is the satisfaction that she has made the streets a little safer. That she has reunited friends, siblings, children, and spouses to their loved ones." Cole couldn't argue with that. Their Baby Girl is one of the greatest people they knew.
They waited for hours for her to get out of surgery. When the doctor came out they all stayed. "How is our daughter?" Her mother asked desperately. "She is out of surgery and will be just fine. She had a bullet go through her left thigh, another grazed her right arm, and she has a lot of bruising around her ribs from where the bullets hit her vest. She also has a minor concussion."
"When can we see her?" Her dad asked. The doctor nodded, "She is asleep but you may visit her." After giving them her room number they went up to her room. It broke their hearts seeing her this way. After spending some time with her, her parents left. Zeke and Davidson eventually left too.
"I'm gonna go home and get some things for her and us." Cole said standing up. He gave Danteous a kiss before going over to kiss her head before leaving. Danteous moved his chair to be right by her bed, taking her hand. It hurt his heart to see her this way, but he was happy to know she got him. When the doctor came in he straightened in his chair.
"Can I get your name? With her being a Detective we are only allowed to tell certain people." He explained. Danteous nodded, "Danteous Bishop. The man who was with me was Cole Peters." The doctor looked at the file in his hand then nodded. "She will be needing physical therapy and be out of work for a couple of weeks, maybe even a couple of months." She'll definitely enjoy that, he thought.
When Cole came back he had a bag of clothes for her and other things. Danteous told him what the doctor said and he nodded. Danteous and Cole moved to the little couch. Cole stretched out, using Danteous' lap as a pillow. Danteous ran his fingers through his hair until Cole fell asleep. Danteous soon followed him.
When Viviana woke up she had a pounding head ache. She looked around and saw her men asleep on the sofa of her hospital room. She smiled softly. Memories of what happened slammed into her. She was happy he wasn't breathing anymore. She didn't know if that made her heartless or if it made her a cold hearted bitch, but she loved how it felt knowing he wouldn't be able to hurt another child. A nurse came in and smiled to see that she was awake. Thankfully the nurse stayed quiet, not waking up the guys. She left with a smile and a nod. Viviana wanted to laugh when Cole nearly rolled off of the tiny couch, but she was in to much pain. His near fall had woken up Danteous. They froze when they saw she was awake and smiling. Relief floored them to the core and they were up kissing her. "How do you feel?" Danteous asked after they were a little breathless.
"A little hazy thanks to the pain meds." She told them. "I'm not in any pain though." As long as I don't move, she left out. They were worried enough as it is. "When I'm able too, schedule my physical therapy with Doctor Wilson Jordan. He helped me when I was a Marine, and is very good." She told them. Danteous made a note of it on his phone. Cole then picked up his phone, "I have some calls to make." He then left the room. She knew her room would soon be filled with her mother, father, his brothers who she had grown close with, Davidson, and even Zeke. She couldn't help but sigh. "You scared us Baby Girl." Danteous said softly. She sighed, "I didn't mean to." He kissed her lips, "I know. I will do my best to keep his brothers from calling all at once, don't need to overwhelm you." She loved them but she couldn't help but agree, "Thank you. My mother will be bad enough as it is." She really did wish they had more than vests at the moment but she knew it would've kept her from moving. Although her men would've preferred it. Hopefully their visits were as painless as possible, she prayed.
