"Haz, is it okay if I go out with some friends," asked Louis.
He was at work that day and he wanted some time to himself for a bit; Harry usually didn't mind.
No answer.
"Harry," called Louis.
No answer.
At this point Louis was feeling a bit worried, and went to look for him. Eventually he found Harry in the room asleep; the room was a mess of tissues. So Louis assumed it was allergies, but he still tried to wake Harry up because he was concerned.
Harry actually felt like shit. He had a headache, his throat hurt, and he couldn't stop sneezing and coughing the whole day. He didn't tell Louis this because he didn't really like getting fussed over.
Louis grabbed Harry's shoulder and gently shook him, and eventually he woke up.
"Haz? Are you okay,"asked Louis.
"Mm? m'fine Lou," replied Harry.
His voice sounded quite hoarse.
"Are you sure? You don't sound very good," said Louis.
Harry opened his mouth to answer, and went into a coughing fit. After a few seconds he groaned and sat up. His eyes had bags underneath them, his hair messier then usual, and he was flushed and shivering.
"Harry, you're sick," exclaimed Louis after he felt Harry's forehead.
"No," he said as his nose started to tickle. He sneezed.
"Haz. I can go out another day; it's not a big deal." Louis said.
Harry was reluctant but eventually gave in; the first thing Louis did was look for the thermometer.
"I don't like the taste of metal, do I have too?" asked Harry.
He started to pout a little.
Louis sighed and said "I need to see if you need to go to the hospital Hazza,"
Harry understood, and let Louis put the thermometer in his mouth.
"104.6. Harry get ready we have to go to the hospital." said Louis, frowning. Harry followed and got up, and he felt dizzy so he had to sit back down. Meanwhile, Louis went out to phone Liam.
"Liam? Can you come by our house and take Harry and I to the emergency room, I'll explain when you get there," said Louis.
"Is he okay," sighed Liam
"I don't know," said Louis.
He was almost on the verge of tears.
"I'll be over in about 5 minutes," said Liam and then he hung up.
Louis then went on to check on Harry and he saw him sitting on the bed again. Harry looked like he was half asleep, and Louis felt concerned. He picked Harry up, carried him to the door, and helped him put his shoes on. Louis then picked him up bridal style and quickly sends Liam a text:
(Bold-Liam italic-Louis)
Harry can't even stand up pls hurry
Im just pulling up now get Harry and come out here did u give him his inhaler
Just did and we r walking out now thanks Li
No problem :)
Louis carried Harry (who was half asleep) over to Liam's car, and sat in the backseat with him. Harry then rested his head in Louis' lap.
"Thanks again Liam," said Louis.
"No problem! You were clearly distressed and wanted to help Harry. Can you explain why he needs the hospital?" Said Liam
"I got home from work, and I couldn't find Harry. When I found him in the room he was burning up. He had a 104.6 fever, and I was scared he might have a seizure with how high his temperature was," said Louis softly.
He was breathing deeply to keep from sobbing.
Liam looked at Louis shocked and said:
"Well good thing you called me. You obviously weren't fit to drive and wanted to monitor Harry,"
Liam pointed to Harry who just sniffled in his sleep. After a while they reached the hospital with Harry just waking up.
"Huh? why are we at the hospital?" asked Harry, it really hurt his throat to talk though and he sounded congested.
"We need to get you checked out." said Louis as he picked Harry up.
When they got in the receptionist had no issues identifying them. They were sent to the triage nurse.
"How long have you had these symptoms Harry?" asked the nurse. Harry—who was still miles away—weakly coughed.
"Two days," he replied.
The nurse sent him off to be tested for the flu, as it had been going around for the past while.
"What can we do for his fever," asked Louis sounded worried.
"Give him some Gatorade or Pedia light (a/n Pedia light is essentially salted water to replace lost electrolytes ) to keep him hydrated. Over the counter meds may not work, and if they don't just put a cold cloth on his forehead. We should be able to see the results in about ten minutes." answered the nurse.
The nurse then grabbed a package of pedia light, and handed it to Louis. Harry fell back asleep after being tested while they got the results of the test (which was positive for the flu). By the time they got back it was midnight, and Liam decided it was time for him to head home.
"Call or text me if you need help," said Liam as he walked out the door.
Louis was alone with Harry for the first time in a few hours. Harry then went into another coughing fit, and Louis grabbed Harry's inhaler just in case.
"Harry, are you alright? do you need your inhaler?" asked Louis, a concerned look forming on his face.
"S'fine. Lou? Can I have some Advil? My heads killing me,"
Louis nodded and got up to grab Harry some Advil. He obviously needed it.
