Chapter 1- Jackson Meets Chase

It's morning at Manila, Philippines. Inside that very busy city, there's an inexpensive apartment, where our heroine stays.

"Wake up, Annabeth! Wake up." Thalia, the best friend and roommate of Annabeth, called as she opened the windows. Annabeth slowly opened her eyes. "What?" she asked as she covered her face to shield her eyes from the blazing light of the morning sun with a pillow.

"It's your big day!" Thalia said as she tried to wake her best friend up. Annabeth asked sleepily, her face still buried in the pillow.

"Big day?"

"Come on!" Thalia complained as she tried to remove the pillow, "You'll be late for your first job interview!"

When Annabeth heard the last sentence, her eyes suddenly opened and she hurriedly stood up. Oh crap! She completely forgot!
She muttered a curse under her breath before moving fast like a lightning to make up for the lost time she wasted. After a few minutes, she was all done.

She then said goodbye to her roommate before going to the garage and starting the engine of her car. She then drove the old vehicle, which was previously owned by her late grandfather, fast for fear of being late. It was her first job interview, after all, and she should not screw this up! Her future literally depended on it!

She then swerved to the right and didn't notice the black limousine arriving along the corner. When she finally spotted the car, it was already too late.

On impulse, she stepped on the breaks and closed her eyes tight, anticipating what will happen next and a loud bang was heard. Was she dead? Oh God please no! She was still too young to die! She still needed to go and work and make her dreams come true!

A few minutes passed by and realizing that she was still breathing and alive, she opened her eyes and breathe a sigh of relief. She sent a silent prayer before going down her car. So did the passenger of the brand new, black limo.

A Caucasian skinned, tall and handsome American guy went out of the limo. It was noticeable that he was wearing expensive shades and a business suit which meant he will be attending an important meeting. The tanned woman tensed up when she saw him starting to walk towards her direction.

"Watch, where you're driving, woman!"

"Sorry? You should watch where you're driving, man!"

"Excuse me? Look what your car did to my limousine! It's a good thing that you just bumped us. Something worst could have happened if you didn't pull on the brakes!"

"Same to you! You act as if you're the King of the Road!"

"Watch your language woman!"

"I say darn well I want!"

They gritted their teeth like a lion and a tiger ready to devour each other.
"Look what that stupid limo of yours did to my precious car!"

"Hahaha! That car of yours... precious? You're a crazy woman!"

"Am not! I had shared many memories with this car and this was once owned by my late grandfather!"

"So that's why it's old. Even a junk shop will not have any interest in buying that garbage."

"Don't you ever insult my grandfather's car!" Annabeth gritted her teeth before exclaiming in frustration, "Argh! I've got no time for this! I'm leaving! I can't believe I wasted 15 minutes of my time because of your useless limo!"

The woman went into her car and started the engine.

"Oh yeah?" The guy taunted. "At least, my limo is not a junk compared to yours!"
