Chapter 1:
The New School

"Caramel Frappe for a Kathryn?" One of the baristas called from the counter. I sat up from my seat and grabbed my precious frappe.
As you've seen, I've already introduced myself. My name is Kathryn Starr- Kat for short. I don't do much but just go to school since I'm required to... And kill werewolves. These werewolves aren't what you think they are. Most people believe they can transform into wolves and humans at will- others think they can turn into wolves only on a full moon and will go haywire since they can't control it. The last part is partially true- only after the first 5 full moons will you be able to control transformations- so I don't target new werewolves, but the ones who are fully aware of killing and who they kill.
I started to sip my mocha as I left the coffee shop and made my way to my new school, wondering if there will be any new targets to kill there, especially since there are so many werewolves at each place...- this won't be an exception.

I walked through the school doors in my usual clothes- a baggy black hoodie and jeans- and of course with my messenger bag too. I always make sure to pull my hood up and keep my hands in my pocket, where wrapped in a leather fragment is my silver dagger which I bring to school for safety. I looked around to see so many cliché people- from the whores with the mini skirts and crop tops, to the "hot dudes", to all the nerds and geeks- many of which actually including those stereotypical thick-rimmed glasses. I saw many of these social groups whispering to each other, and I managed to catch a few small sentences of what they were talking about.
"Look- it's that new kid--" to "What is she wearing"
I kept silent and didn't respond. My experiences have found it better to just remain quiet, and so soon emerged was the concept of being "mute." I jump school to school, town to town, state to state, and so forth, the comments have become the norm to me. I let out a small hiss that only I could hear when someone threw a paper ball at me. It was already the first day of school and I'm getting onto people's bad side. I sighed as I continued to make my way down the hall.
"Watch it, freak!" A typical football player said as he slammed into me. I looked up, my amber eyes squinting in anger, and my brows furrowed. "What, are you not going to say sorry you mute freak?" By the time he had said that there was already a crowd forming around us. I tried my best to not stab him with my dagger. I also tried my best not talk back with some stupid smart ass remark just to keep up my mute persona, which I also do so most don't try to interrogate me or anything.. and so the administrators of most schools take pity on me.
I looked at the guy straight in the eyes and proceeded to knee him. I rolled my eyes as he fell down groaning in pain- such an exaggeration. I made my way swiftly through the crowds and made my way to math class. As I was navigating through the endless crowds of high schoolers, I overheard someone.
"Be- I mean Brad, Ryder needs you to meet with him in the classroom." In a lower voice, he proceeded to say, "He said it's urgent."
The football player- or should I say, Brad- was still 'billowing' in pain on the ground. He glared at me through the crowd and looked back towards the someone. "I'll be there in five," Brad said in a pained voice.

I inserted the dollar into the vending machine and grabbed my snack. I decided to go out near the edge of the woods for the break, to avoid anyone who would try to interact with me. As I sat down on a conveniently placed boulder, my thoughts threatened to consume me. There was already a big question staring me in the face: What would a normal life be for me? Just imagine it... No trying to hunt down some sort of rogue werewolf leader, not being some sort of sociopathic killer, but just being a normal 16-year-old teenager with a family. I tried to blink out some of the tears that were forming in my eyes. But from out of the sudden, a voice made me jump up.
"Hey! Are you awake?"
I looked up to see a familiar face... where is she from? Oh, I remember now. She wouldn't stop talking during math class today... And all the other classes I've been in so far. My eyes stood blankly as she bounced up and down. She seemed excited. "Earth to Kathryn!" She said in a cheery voice.
I quickly rummaged through my bag to take out a simple dry-erase board. I wrote down very neatly on the board my reply. Sorry, I kinda spaced out. I'm mute, and I have a hard time learning sign language.
"Oh, that's fine! My name is Lizbeth, and I'm assuming your Kathryn or Kat-- Well.. obviously! You're the new talk of the school!" Lizbeth extended her arm towards me to shake. Skeptically but surely, I shook her hand. My eyebrows furrowed once again. She had a firm grip, meaning she might be a werewolf. I quickly let go of her hand in disgust.
"So.. what'cha doin' out here all alone?" Lizbeth asked with a small smile.
Well... I don't exactly have friends and plus I find it peaceful I write down
"You're right.. It is peaceful out here." She looked towards the trees and back to me with a small giggle. "Consider me your new best friend and school guide... Ya know since we have likee every single class together.. Ohh, also.. call me, Liz!"
The high-pitched screaming of the bell notified me that the next class would be starting soon. Liz looked towards me through her golden locks and smiled, "Soo, there's the bell! What's your next class?"
Art
"LIKE! O.M.G! Me too!" Before I could object, she hooked her arm with mine and started to skip back towards the school doors. "Let's goo! You're going to love it!"
