Two days later
I opened my eyes, and smiled to myself.
I held out my hand, admiring my ring.
It had a purple-tinted diamond, with small crystals surrounding it. It was perfectly beautiful, and totally perfect for me.I felt arms wrap around my waist.
I turned around in the bed to face Steven, and he had a smile on his face as well.
He pulled me closer to him, to where there wasn't an inch between us.
"Good morning my beautiful fiancée."
Steven said, kissing me tenderly.
I smiled, and started to blush, and hid my face in his chest.
"I can't believe this is happening." I replied, running my hands through his hair lightly.
"Well believe it. In a couple months you will be Mrs. Lana Rose Tyler." Steven kissed my nose.I smiled in response, and sat up in the bed, sighing.
Steven's face turned from happiness to confusion.
"What's wrong??" He asked, pulling me into his chest.What I wanted to say, I didn't know if he would agree with it, or if he would even want me to do it. But, I just felt this nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach, and I wanted the answers I was searching for. Yes, the trial gave me closure, but I still had questions for my father. Like, why did he try to hurt me? Why did he never try to contact me before that day? Is there more that I don't know about my mom?
"Steven..." I started.
"Yes, babe? What's wrong?" Steven asked again.
"I..I want to go visit my dad in prison..I just...still have so many questions to ask him that I never got the chance to.." I replied.
Steven sighed. "Are you sure you want to do that?"
"I think.."
"It might be scary for you...he might say things you don't wanna hear."
I met his eyes. "Whatever I need to hear to help, I'm going to listen."
"Do you want me to go with you??" Steven smiled softly down at me.
"That would be nice. But I want to speak to him alone, if that's okay."
Steven kissed my head. "As long as I know you're safe, it's okay."
I smiled, giggly inside. "I love you, Steven."
"I love you to the moon and back, Lana Rose."
~~~
The next dayI was brushing my hair at my dresser when Steven's arms wrapped around my waist from behind.
"Are you ready?" He whispered softly against my neck.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I whispered back.
I finished up getting ready, and interlocked my hand with Steven's.
We walked outside to the car, and got in.~~~~
We drove the 20 minutes to the prison, and parked. We were buzzed in, and lead to the front window.
"I'm here to visit an inmate. My father, Martin Skye." I told the officer at the window.
"One moment."
I let out a deep breath, and Steven grabbed my hand protectively.
"Ms--"
"Cooper."
"Ms. Cooper, officers have brought your father down to the visiting room. You're welcome to go ahead with this officer."
I turned to face the officer. "Right this way. Follow me." She spoke.
Steven let go of my hand, questioning me.
"Do you still want me not-"
I interrupted. "Come with me, now. Please. I changed my mind."
I grabbed his hand in mine, and we proceeded to follow the officer to the
visiting room.
We went through a few doors until we reached the door that would lead me to answers.
"There will be officers inside to restrain Mr. Skye if he gets violent. He shouldn't, but just in case. We have him cuffed on both his hands and feet." The officer spoke.
I let out a deep breath as the officer unlocked the door.
~~~
"Martin...why did you try to hurt me??" I asked him as soon as I sat down.
He smiled. "I don't know what you're talking about.."
I let out a sigh, ignoring his statement, hoping that he would give me more.
"What else about my mom, don't I know?"
"Your mom is a lying, cheating, bitch. Did you know that? Even though I loved her, she had to pay for what she did. What she did to you."
"What did she do to me?"
He leaned closer to me. "She lied to you for fourteen years."
At that moment, I knew that he was never going to understand. And I wasn't going to waste my time on someone who doesn't want to try.
I also wasn't going to be sweet anymore.
I sighed, and Steven gripped my hand tight.
"I will love my mom regardless. And I don't need someone like you to avenge for me. That was for you. But you, dad, if I should even call you that, deserve everything you get. I might have loved you if I knew you, but you know what? You're no help. My step-dad was a better dad than you ever could have been."
Martin glared at me, and I continued, finally feeling free to say what I wanted.
"You're not giving me any straight answers, either. Which shows that you never loved me, and never cared about me. Coming here, I wanted closure. And guess what? I have it now. I have closure, and I also have concluded something."
Martin smiled creepily. "Concluded what, my dear?"
"That you were a piece of shit then, and are still a piece of shit now. Goodbye, Martin. Enjoy rotting in hell."
I stood up abruptly, Steven's hand still in mine.
"I'm ready to leave. I got what I needed." I spoke to the officers.
"Lana.." I turned around to look at Martin again.
He smirked. "Have fun, my darling, and I love you."
I glared at him, angry tears glistening in my eyes.
"You're insane. I hope you get the help you need. Because you need it. But I've realized I don't need you. So, Martin Skye, Father: you may happily fuck off."
With that, Steven and I walked out of the visiting room, and all the way outside to the car.
I let out a breath, and met Steven's eyes.
I smiled genuinely, and put my arms around his neck.
Steven looked at me softly. "Are you okay?"
"You know what? I'm fine. I have closure now." I responded.
Steven smiled, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"You're so strong, so beautiful. I absolutely adore you, Lana Rose."
I bit my lip seductively. "I know, I'm pretty irresistable."
Steven laughed, kissing me.
"Let's go home."
