CHAPTER POV: EMMA

'It felt as though I died, went to heaven and came back to Earth alive again! THE Joe Sugg walked into my shop, and then asked if he could take my Emma, one of my best workers, and whisk her away for coffee and chats!' Michelle called over the roar of the food processor, blending the biscuits for the new cheesecake to put out for customers when complete.

I grab the soup pot we used for our daily Bolognese batch for our pasta's and lasagne, and bring it to the sink by Michelle, 'Well if YOU went to heaven, I visited the Angels of God!'

'If you visited the Angels, did you thank them for the heavenly Joseph Sugg.' Michelle pulls the pot from my hands and straight under the spray hose tap.

'I did, even on behalf of you!' I head back over to beside the stove, where the soup pot from the soup of the day was made in.

The visit to the angels was our running joke between us, used for any heavenly event to ever happen on Earth; ranging from anything from any lucky event, to boys and love.

Michelle dropped the soup pot from the Bolognese into the sink, 'I told you to never give your heart to the Angels of God, they will run around with it and do all kinds of things to it!'

'But I didn't give my heart to the angels, Mich.' I begin.

'It seemed like you did. I was watching you to a bit by the way, and all I could see was you smiling and laughing, and Joe looked really, really interested.'

I drop the pot on the bench beside Michelle. 'But he was only interested in our conversation because he's a polite person!'

'Hmmm. Who am I to believe here Emma: you, a young woman who has still much to learn about love; or my own experience which can tell many a tale.'

I thought about it for a second. Was Joe Sugg really into me? Did he actually like me and not really feign interest because he was just being genuine in conversation?

'I refuse to believe it,' I declare, heading over to the bench with the food processor as the biscuits had been on for long enough. 'We will never meet again, ever. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll meet him again when I am thirty and he is an ageing old man with a wife and three school aged kids.'

'Don't think of your fortunes that negatively, you never know if he'll come back wanting more. I mean, he does know where to find you now.'

I returned to the bench where I had begun work on the cheesecake. With the flip of the switch on both the machine and powerpoint (because, please, safety in the kitchen) I then pulled out the bowl insert and tipped out the biscuit crumbs into the melted butter and started combining the two together.

What Michelle last said began to make me think once again, Was Joe really into me?

I pondered over this as I continued the cheesecake for the rest of my shift. Michelle left the kitchen to manage the floor for the afternoon, to keep an eye on things as she often likes to do, and serve the occasional customer.

By 3pm, I had truely believed to refuse the fact Joe must've liked me, when Michelle walked in to say 'Have you finished the cheesecake? I've gotten a few of those elderly regulars interested.'

'It is complete. I've just placed it in the fridge to set a half hour ago and have been cleaning up.'

Michelle slips over to the fridge, 'Thank you, Emma. You can leave now, I know its been a big shift today, but go home and study for those upcoming exams. You'll ace them, I know it!'

'Thanks Mich. I'll see you around then.' I slide out of my apron, covered in a little chocolate powder from my morning cappuccinos and some just dusted on top of the cheesecake I made: a chocolate cheesecake.
