Castiel's POV
"Do you want a refill, Cassie?"Castiel looked up at the waitress, Hannah, his sister. In a small town like his, you were related to everybody somehow. It also helped that around half the town was a sibling of his.
Case in point, his brother, Gabriel sat across from him at their normal spot in the cafe. Gabriel was busy typing away at his new book, but Castiel hadn't written a word.
"Cassie? Are you listening?" Hannah asked.
"Sorry, Hannah. Just zoned out for a second. What did you say?" Castiel said as he ignored the blank page on his computer. He was supposed to turn in a new draft for a book in two months. Which was not a lot of time.
"I asked if you if you wanted a refill on that coffee." Hannah reminded him. "How's the book going?" She asked while pouring the coffee into Castiel's near-empty mug without waiting for an answer.
"Thanks, Hannah. It's going good." Castiel lied.
Hannah raised her eyebrows and looked pointedly at the blank page where his new book was supposed to be.
"Don't lie to me." She told him, but graciously ignored his writer's block and turned her attention to her other brother. "How about you, Gabriel. How is your book so far?"
Gabriel looked up, his face painted with confusion. "Hm? Oh, yeah. It's going good. Hannah, do you think I could get one of your cinnamon rolls?" He asked.
"Sure, Gabriel. Do you want anything, Castiel?"
Castiel shook his head.
"Alright, good luck on the books, boys." Hannah called over her shoulder as she walked away.
As soon as Hannah disappeared behind the counter Gabriel and Castiel both sighed.
"How many words do you have, Cassie?" Gabriel asked while he rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands.
"None." Castiel took a gulp of his coffee, lukewarm. Still, it helped keep him energized. "You?"
Gabriel pressed his palms into his eyes and said, "I just deleted four pages. They were crap."
"At least you had pages. I haven't written anything!" Castiel retorted.
Gabriel banged his head against the table and groaned. "My deadline is in four months!"
"Mine is in two months." Castiel replied and took another sip of almost cold coffee.
"Fine, you win the pity prize." Gabriel told him as he threw his hands in the air.
Castiel smiled, but his attention wandered away from his brother and across the street. One of the buildings was being redone. Someone had bought it, but no one had met them yet, and the topic of what the building was going to become was on everybody's mind, even his. It had been a while since someone had moved there.
"What do you think it will be?" Castiel asked.
"Huh? Oh, the building. I don't know. I hope it isn't another cafe. Hannah would be pissed. Speaking of Hannah, where is my cinnamon roll?"
"I think she has another customer." Castiel nodded to a tall man with shoulder length hair.
Gabriel whistled softly, "That's one good looking moose."
Castiel rolled his eyes. "If you like what you see you should go get his number."
Gabriel stared at his brother. "Fine I will."
Castiel nodded innocently. "Go ahead."
Gabriel hoisted himself out of the booth, smoothed his hair, and walked off to get the number of the tall moose-like man.
Castiel grinned. Life was short and watching your hilariously awkward brother fail at getting someone's number was great entertainment. Besides, maybe it would inspire him to write through his writer's block.
Gabriel's POV
Gabriel took a deep breath before tapping the extremely tall man on the back, the only place Gabriel could reach without jumping.
The man turned around and stopped. Holy crap. This guy was smokin hot. His long hair was chocolate brown and his eyes seemed to be every color possible. When he smiled it was like the sun was- okay enough Gabriel, you don't want to sound like a sap.
"Can I help you?" The man asked.
Gabriel panicked. He hadn't thought he would get this far. He briefly remembered looking up pickup lines on the internet when Castiel thought he was writing. Which then led to him remembering his favorite.
"I've got skittles in my mouth. Do you want to taste the rainbow?"
The man blushed a beet red before laughing. "I'm Sam Winchester, what's your name?"
"I'm Gabriel Novak. I don't think I've seen you around here before." Gabriel's real name was Gabriel Novak-Shurley, but he didn't want to explain it just yet.
"Yeah, you haven't," Sam agreed. "I just moved here."
"You wouldn't happen to be opening up the business across the road, would you?" Gabriel asked.
"No I'm not. My brother and our Uncle Bobby are though."
"It's not a cafe is it? My sister would be pissed if she had competition. But it would make things interesting." He wondered aloud.
Sam laughed. "Don't worry. I don't think Dean is one to open a cafe and declare war on your sister. He's opening a garage for working on cars." (The author has no idea what it is called. So bear with her.)
"Here is your pie, Sam. Bring your brother by, we would love to meet him too." Hannah smiled at Sam and handed a paper box filled with apple pie. "Here is your cinnamon roll, Gabriel."
Before Gabriel could grab it however, Sam reached over and took it out of Hannah's hands. Hannah shrugged and walked away. Sam pulled a pen out of his pocket and wrote something down on the brown napkin that came with the cinnamon roll.
Sam handed the plate and napkin back before he smiled and walked out the door as he called a see you later back to Gabriel.
Gabriel looked at the napkin, two words and a few digits spread across a corner.
Call me.
Gabriel grinned, turned around, and gave Castiel a big thumbs up. That's what you do when you get the number of an insanely hot moose.
Author's note
I have never been in a romantic relationship or have felt attracted to anyone, so this probably isn't realistic. Sorry. But I hope you like the first chapter. Sabriel is going to start pretty fast but Destiel is going to go slow because I hate it when they immediately start dating in fanfics.
Love ya.
