Chapter 2
Daddy Issues
It was the last Saturday of Spring Break, the air was warm and the sky was clear. Madison Miller unlocked her iPhone that had previously lay on her bedside table and scrolled through her notifications. A couple from twitter, the odd Instagram likes on a few old photos, stalkers, and a text message from Chesca Upton.
‘Pool day at mine? Today’s the day.’
A quick reply telling her best friend she’d be over in half an hour sent and she was out of bed. After deliberating between her peach coloured Emilio Pucci bikini or her black Alexander McQueen swimsuit she swiftly chucked on a floral sundress and her new favourite pair of Steve Madden sandals.
As she walked downstairs the sweet smell of green tea wafted under her nostrils. A freshly brewed pot sat on the counter as her mother practised her yoga out on the deck. As Madison poured the hot tea into a flask and chose the nicest looking blubbery muffin from pile on the kitchen island, her mother stood up form her downward dog pose and smiled at the sight of daughter.
“Hi honey, got any plans for today?” She asked perkily.
“Yeah just going around to Chesca’s today. Pool day I think.”
“What a lovely day to spend your last weekend on spring break.” Her mother spoke genuinely as
she helped Madison pack her Mulberry tote bag. “Will Riley be there?”
“Of course.” Madison spoke between bites of her breakfast muffin.
“Silly question. When are you three ever not together?” She grinned.
Maddison politely smiled back and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before she headed to the door.
“Be home for dinner! You’re dad’s going to be here tonight!” Her mother called after her.
“Believe it when I see it.” Maddison mumbled.
“Oh and put your hair up, you don’t want it to go all dry again from the chlorine.”
“Of course, i’ll see you later.” She spoke as she picked up her car keys, not wanting to upset her mother.
She stepped out into the heat which immediately hit her tanned legs that weren’t covered by her outfit. A tan she was quite proud of by the way. She blipped her Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet and waited for the sun roof to come down as she smoothed her platinum blonde hair into a messy bun on top of her head, completing the look with a signature pair of Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses.
As she pulled out of the driveway she turned up the volume of the radio, where a song by some skinny jeaned boy band was playing. Which one she couldn’t decipher as they all sounded the same to her, but it was catchy. Chesca only lived about 10 minutes away from Madison so the drive went by pretty quickly. In Ivy Hills, nowhere took long to get to. As she paused at a red stoplight, she watched all the cheerful teenagers walking towards the lake, a popular hang out when the weather was nice enough. Maddison couldn’t help but envy their happiness. Their spring breaks would have been filled with late nights and lie-ins and many memories would have been made. And yet although Maddison had had a pretty nice, and most of all normal spring break, she’d felt sort of… empty, throughout.
As she pulled up outside Chesca’s house she couldn’t help but feel nostalgic as her eyes swept down the road. With a small sigh she got out of her car and flung her tote over her arm and made her way up to the apple green coloured door.
{Hope you're liking the story so far. The next couple of chapters will be short to introduce each of the girls but then will be follwed by lots of drama xox}
