My soul cried out as my fingers glided across the keys, crying out to anyone who'd listen but my cries always sounded beautiful to the simple minded. The keys playing a dramatic melody that mimicked my hearts yearning to be free to be chainless to fly amongst the beautiful blue skies.

A women like me is ignored, good only for entertainment.

Only needed when guests are around, that's what my owner tells me.

I am a servant, quiet, well mannered and soft.

I am not to be seen unless my owner and his family have guests around and then I am to pretend to be the daughter without a voice, I have a voice, it's beautiful and it is my best instrument but it cripples the mind, it's dangerous and to keep me safe my owner tells me unless he asks me to sing or speak then I must not for my own safety. Only his closest friends know I can sing but I have little control over it, so my owner has a choker around my neck to silence me by small shocks when I get out of hand.

My fingers slide over the last key of the piano, ending my musical cries for the night a cry that will never be heard. I stayed in my seat for a moment then got up turned around and bowed to the guests.

My owner stood up from his seat and walked slowly over to me, standing behind me his hand came to tilt my chin up from looking down at the floor to look up to the table of people.

"Isn't my daughter the most talented pianist you've ever heard? She has such potential to be amongst the best, don't you think so?" He asked his guests

They all nodded eagerly, one even spoke up "What school are you sending her to, surely she has the best teaching money could buy? My little Lenore is into the fine arts of music and I would love for her to get the best schooling so she can follow in the same footsteps as your one?"

His grip around my chin tightened but I made no noise, my owner didn't like people asking questions about me. He coughed to clear his throat and answered the women who looked all wealth with her pristine black Anjela asymmetric ruched jersey midi dress that she'd told us all before dinner cost her $1000 just for a dress alone.

"You see Leila here doesn't do well in schooling, so we hired a tutor to teach her as we want her to focus on her career in the music industry, it's a same really as her brothers and sister do so well in Harvard but they unlike her don't have that passion for music our girl is special you see"

The women nodded while finishing off a bite of her food and dapping her mouth with a napkin, placing it back down on her lap she spoke "That is rather a shame she isn't in school but I suppose some people aren't made to be like the rest of us but I am sure she will go very far in her current path" She all but insulted me while smiling with those perfect white teeth of hers, waving her hand to dismiss the conversation flashing the diamond rings on her hand.

"Yes well I am sure Leila would love to join us for diner but she has a lot of work to catch up on and must go up to her room so she can study in peace, isn't that right Leila?" My owner asked me.

I nodded and he let me go with a push towards the door to leave the dinning room as I left I heard someone speak "I guess everyone has a black sheep in the family, I feel sorry that you and your family to have to deal with something like this"
