There was a soft crunch of twigs under feet and Namjoon jerked his head up from his telescope at the noise. His friend, Jimin, was leaning against a tree trunk on top of the picnic blanket they had set up, the fairy lamps settled along the ground to light up the dark night. He stopped humming along to whatever song he was singing to, and his eyes narrowed. "Who's there?" Jimin called, standing.
Namjoon bit his lip and tipped his head. "That's normal, Jimin. There's a lot of animals around in this part of the forest." He tried to reassure the boy, although the noise was far more different than most creature's pawsteps. In fact, ever since Seokjin revealed himself as to being a werewolf, he had been incredibly hesitant to coming back here, but he had with Jimin. And he was dying to ask Jimin if he was also a wolf. "Come, look at this one."
Jimin stared for another moment at the darkness and slowly turned to Namjoon's telescope, peering through the scope and nodding. "Yeah, that's really pretty." Jimin mumbled, only half-amused.
A moment of silence passed between them and Namjoon looked down. "Erm, Jimin?"
The silver-haired male turned around with a smile, ruffling Namjoon's lilac ones. "Yeah? You wanna start eating the food you packed now?" Jimin looked back at the little basket expectantly but Namjoon shook his head.
"I needed to ask you something." Namjoon murmured softly, voice quiet as Jimin met his gaze steadily and Namjoon bit down harder on his lips. "A-about Mister Kim and...you."
Jimin looked casual, plopping down in front of the picnic basket and pulling out the bowl of packed fruits and munching on a grape. "Yeah, sure. Ask away."
Namjoon settled down in front of Jimin, breathing a little shallowly as the boy pushed the bowl of fruits in front of Namjoon and Namjoon chewed on a slice of kiwi. "Um...the other day, please don't take this the wrong way, but um...your cousin, ah, Mister Kim, was over at my apartment. For tutoring, I guess, and um," he stopped as Jimin had stopped eating and was now staring intensely at him, "his eyes...turned yellow, and, he said he was...a werewolf..."
Namjoon placed his hands in his lap and stared down at them. Jimin was incredibly quiet and Namjoon flitted his gaze up to glance at him but Jimin's gaze was fixed on the fruit a little blankly. "I wanted to ask if you were one, too." He said bluntly, eyes round and nervous as Jimin's eyes locked on Namjoon's.
Jimin didn't respond for a while. He shifted, leaned closer and placed a hand on Namjoon's shoulder. "Namjoon. There's no way his eyes would show unless his emotions were spiraling out of control." Jimin's eyes flickered blue and Namjoon felt a jolt; no words needed to be passed. He knew already just from that split-second: he was also a mythical creature under the night of the full moon. "Was he angry? Sad? Aroused?"
Namjoon's cheeks turned bright red and he opened his mouth, his mind flashing back to the moment where Seokjin's already deep voice had turned incredibly husky and dominant, the way their hips touched in such an erotic manner and his soft lips on Namjoon's, the feeling of their tongues clashing together. "H-he...—aroused...-I-I—!"
Jimin burst into a fit of giggles. "Did you two fuck?" The younger hid his lips behind his hand and raised an eyebrow.
Namjoon gasped, cheeks flushed scarlet. His ears burned and he couldn't even speak as Jimin just casually took this information, his once-brown eyes glowing a soft and oddly beautiful blue. "That's good if you did. He's been looking for a mate for years, and honestly we've been growing tired of waiting. We need more alpha offspring to lead the pack." Jimin stuffed his mouth with more grapes and leaned back against the tree.
"W-we didn't!" Namjoon yelped, turning even redder. "H-he just kissed me and I was so shocked and I didn't know how to respond and—"
"Agh, save it for later," Jimin grumbled, his eyes now dying down. "Now that you know, you can't go round yapping about it, alright? People will kill for out pelts and I know you won't tell anyone, won't you?" Jimin stared at Namjoon hard. "Right?"
Namjoon didn't hesitate for his answer. "Of course I wouldn't! I'm just a little shocked." He pulled out the wrapped sandwiches and tossed one to Jimin. "I hope this doesn't change anything...but is this why you couldn't attend my full moon pictures? Your 'family tradition'?"
Jimin snickered. "Is it that obvious?"
"Every full moon you're gone. Yeah, I was kinda contemplating it, to be honest." Namjoon bit down and munched happily. "Can't you just like, I don't know, skip a month? What do you do when there's blue moons?"
"Uhm, we transform every full moon even if there's those lucky times where there's twice in a month. And no, what do I look like? If girls can't skip their periods, we can't, either, and that will never happen." Jimin looked around quietly. He peered at his sandwich and stared up at Namjoon who nodded knowingly and continued to eat. "Isn't this all a bit of a shock to you? You're acting like it's nothing, like this has happened to you before or something."
"Well," Namjoon mumbled through a mouthful of food, shifting the fairy lamp over so that he would be able to see Jimin's face without it illuminating his facial features so awkwardly, "it's kind of cool, isn't it? It's exciting to have this kinda stuff in your life."
Jimin paused. He laughed quietly and shook his head, smiling sadly at Namjoon who was simply so oblivious to the real darkness within this 'exciting' and 'cool' stuff. "Yeah." He swallowed and stared at the glowing yellow eyes behind Namjoon in the shadows with a bit of sorrow. "Real cool."
