PRESENT TIME
Getting off of the bus, she stretched herself and noticed the tall man passing her, having gotten off along with everyone else. Their eyes met for a moment and she knew instantly whom he was, just like he knew whom the blondie was. They had met during her first case and by the scarf of her friend, Hye-Bin knew he had Minseok and he was there to not just trigger her, but also warn her. Caedis was on the right path, things were about to turn even more dangerous and Hye-Bin felt of how she had broken her promise to Minseok to keep him safe.
Shaking the bad feeling off that kept lingering in the back of her neck, she knew they had gotten too close and that she was being watched. They all were being watched. Hye-Bin, Minji, Sehun and Chen, just because they were the most visible and most open. As it had gotten to the life-threatening situation, she knew she had to call to one of her former informators and ask his teams help. So much was suddenly going on and it felt like her brain was about to explode.
Suddenly smirking, the Song heiress turned around on her heels and quickly moved through the crowd of people that was heading out of the office building behind bus stop. There was no time to make a scene at the information desk, although she would have enjoyed it, and thus took the route of where she didn't have to draw attention on herself.
In hurry, the female managed to shake the guy off and run into the VIP elevator, only to bump into someone familiar. Falling on the floor, she quickly pushed herself up and stared down at the confused man.
"Song Hye-Bin!"
"Hi!" She grinned at him and pressed the top floor number, letting the doors gradually close behind them, and hiding her from the view of the tall guy that kept looking for Detective C.
Offering her hand, she helped the man up and helped him clean up the suit.
"Sorry about that, Jongin. I guess I was in a bit of hurry."
The man looked at her and offered a smile.
"Short hair suit you well, Young Miss," Jongin spoke, but turned back serious instantly, "your father sent me down to look for you. I was just about to get the car and drive out. I guess there is no need for that anymore now that you're here."
Hye-Bin leaned against the back of elevator and crossed arms over her chest.
"I told him I would come, when I am ready. Old man is getting too impatient. Impatience brings mistakes and we can't afford mistakes. I can't afford it."
"Seems that you are the same as ever."
A remark that she had heard over and over from him.
"You speak as if it has been years since we last met, Jongin. It has been only eleven days."
"I didn't know you count the days of our meetings," he spoke, closing in on her and placing his palm against the wall right beside her head.
The time froze, she could swear the whole elevator was pulsing along with both of their heartbeats. Why was it that she always became affected by his presence?
"Speak, Hye-Bin... just say something. Stop staring into those god damn sexy eyes. Song Hye-Bin! Even if it is stupid, say it out loud! Where has the sarcastic bitch in you gone now?"
She kept screaming at herself, while being frozen. Oh how much she wanted to just forget everything and drag him into the passionate kiss, but she couldn't fall into this trap again. One mistake and everything would be blown up. One mistake and she would lose everything.
"Don't flatter yourself. It is just how my brain works and I can't control what I remember and what I don't want to remember," she finally managed to spit out some words, which made Jongin smile mysteriously and lean closer, his lips nearly brushing her small ear.
"I know you want this to happen, Bambi," he whispered, making her skin crawl either out of how disgusting it was or how right he was.
Pushing him away, Hye-Bin stared at the man with furious eyes. It was a nickname that her deceased parents had given her and it took her by surprise that he knew of it.
Luckily, saved by the ding of the elevator, she pushed herself past him and turned around after exiting.
"Tell your freak of a brother to stop stalking me."
With a grin plastered on her face, she had quickly found her composure again and left the sight to go and meet her step-father.
Jongin was left alone in the hallway, a phone in his hand, fingers moving swiftly across the screen:
"I told you to keep distance from her."
CY: "I have it under control. Don't worry about it."
J: "You are underestimating her. Stay away until I tell you to do what is necessary. Understand?"
CY: "K."
