Mary Dies in This One, Don't Worry.

Shadow:

Zelda claimed I was pale as death. I couldn't find a pulse, my hair was matted with blood and a rub was sticking out of my skin. So she wasn't surprised to find me passed out at the location we were supposed to meet up at.

But she didn't take me to the hospital because she didn't think doctors would react well to a literal corpse.

I woke up in a twin sized bed with white sheets. As if she heard me open my eyes, she burst brought the door and freaked.

"I thought you were gonna die too! I thought you were dead! No one's been able to find Vio or you, someone started a rumor about a suicide pact and I-I..." she took a deep breath. "What's going on?"

I bit my lip before feeling in my pockets. And sure enough, there was the shard...I pulled it out and presented it to her.

"That's.." she gently took it out of my hand and examined it before turning in her heel and vanishing.

After a moments hesitation, I followed her.

She was in a room with a pink bed and cream walls, a desk scattered with flowers and notebooks and novels was against the wall. She sat on her bed, flipping through a book, brow furrowed.

I was going to have to tell her, wasn't I?

After a brief silence she started speaking suddenly.

"They were there. Last night, I had a dream. All four of them were injured, bleeding, they didn't tell me why, they just said that you had done something stupid. And they begged me to forgive you for what it was. They told me of the land before this one. They said that no matter what, I needed to help you."

"I...I killed them."

She looked up at me, horrified. "You what?!"

"I dressed up as a girl and went behind Green. I cut his throat, burned his body and all evidence so no one would find him. Later I wiped a corrosive poison on an unfolded t-shirt I found in his room after sneaking in when he was asleep. When he woke up he folded it like I knew he would and he dropped dead. Red commuted suicide and then Vio went to come see me and...I murdered him."

She looked at me with total disgust and hatred. "Why would you do something like that?! You monster!"

She probably thought I deserved my broken bones and unbeating heart.

"You killed him..."

"And I will never forgive myself for it. I don't expect you to. But I had to."

"What do you mean you had to?"

"My father...is a reincarnated demon who has a grudge against them. I wouldn't have killed them if I had the choice but...he threatened to kill Mary. And when he came home to see Vio...on the ground, he...he said I wasn't finished. I stared screaming that I was and that I hated myself for what I had done. That I killed all of them and...he told me I hadn't. I demanded to know if there was some fifth Link I didn't know about and that would be..."

"...you," She finished, understanding.

"If it would have saved my sister, it would have been worth it. I slit my wrists and...I guess he didn't want to be seen in possession of my corpse. But I saw them too. And I woke up where he probably  dumped my body Speaking of which, is Mary okay? She must have noticed I'm gone by now, have you seen her?"

"Shadow..." she said quietly. "I don't know how to tell you this...but she came back to school and she told me everything...she said she had to dispose of two corpses over the weekend. She said you died. Your father...Vaati...told her everything...she told me what he'd done to her when you weren't around and what he threatened to do when she got home that day  and...she's gone now."

"What?" I asked numbly.

"She died. He killed her. I'm sure if it."
