1: 18 P.M.

Seven more hours left. Seven.

I already couldn't handle one. Now I have to go through seven more.

Seven more hours of staring at a computer screen. Seven more hours of clicking and tapping. Seven more hours of losing control.

Sam hasn't bothered to even enter my office anymore. I think he might've left.

He's nice. He really is. But he's just, too nice. Too forgiving. And that's the sad part. His wife literally left him for another guy, and when he dumped her, she came running back to Sam. Unfortunately, he forgave her when she said 'she had too much to drink.'

I don't think a drink would last for two and a half months. Not sure how he believed that, but now they're happy I guess. She's pregnant with their first child.

My phone rings and vibrates on my desk. I grab it and check who it is.

Brian.

It's kind of funny, I was just thinking about first borns and Brian calls. I smile and answer his call.

"Hey." I say firstly.

"Hey, Dad. I... How's everything?"

"Good, good. How's everything with you? How's college?"

There's a pause. "It's fine, yea. How's everyone? Mom and Pheefee? And Brandon?"

"They're all good. You need anything?"

Another pause. "Y-yea actually. Um... I need extra money." He seems nervous to ask, hesitation in his voice.

"Money?"

"Yea... I mean, if you could."

"Why? What happened to all the money I gave you?"

"Uh... I l-lost it."

"Lost it?" I start losing my temper.

"Yea..."

"Brian, I gave you two hundred dollars and you lost them?" My voice is filled with anger.

"Well actually..."

"What?"

"I think someone stole them..."

"Someone stole the two hundred I gave you?! Brian are you serious?!"

"Dad I-"

"When did this happen?"

"Two weeks ago..."

"And where did you get the money to buy everything you need in those two weeks?"

"I have people who've helped me."

"You've been taking money from people?"

"Yea."

"Brian, what the... How? Where did you keep it?"

"In my bag."

"Brian, who the heck keeps money in their bag when they have a roommate?"

"Dad, Jason isn't bad. He wouldn't steal it. Plus, where else should I put it? Under my mattress?"

"Yes! Anywhere someone can't find it or think to find it!"

Brian sighs on the other end. "I'm sorry Dad. I'll keep watch on it from now on. So, can you send it to me?"

"Okay but in a week or more." I sigh as well, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"What?" He seems worried. "W-why can't you send it sooner?"

"I still haven't received my paycheck yet."

"But... I need it. Quick."

"Are you forcing me to give you?"

"No Dad. But I really... I need it."

"Why do you need it so badly all of a sudden?"

"Uh... Well I can't keep taking money from my friends right?"

"Yea, yea... How much do you need?"

"f-five hundred... please?"

"Five hundred dollars?" I laugh sarcastically.

"Yea..."

"Where the hell am I going to find five hundred dollars this fast?!"

"Well I need two hundred for myself and... three hundred to pay my friends back."

"What type of friends ask for their money back?"

"Dad, please. Can you at least try?"

I sigh again. I can't keep money away from my son, but I still have children here, too.

"Okay. I'll ask my boss."
