"She's finally asleep." Katherine said with a tired sigh as she walked into Griffin's office.
Griffin lifted his head up from his elegant mahogany desk where it laid in front of his laptop and looked over at her groggily. "I was too."
"Sorry." She said apologetically, coming over to him and sitting on his lap, laying her head on his shoulder with a yawn. "I thought she'd never fall asleep. I don't know how they do it. She has more energy than a puppy, jeez."
He leaned back in his chair, pulling her with him as he wrapped his strong arms around her. "She's a fiend."
"She's definitely Alice's daughter, that's for sure." Katherine said with a laugh as she burrowed herself closer to him.
"Yeah, well she may have been more docile if Kajetan would stick around." He mumbled, his eyes sinking closed.
Katherine nodded in agreement. "Come on," She said, standing up and grabbing his hand to pull him with her, "Let's go to bed."
He opened his eyes and looked up at her. "I have more to do."
"No." She said with a shake of her head, "You can do it tomorrow, come on, you're already falling asleep. You're going to be sore if you fall asleep in here."
He let her pull him to his feet, chuckling just a bit. "I know, I only said that for show."
She smiled at him. "I know, drama queen." She pecked him on the lips and pulled him with her.
He let another, almost slap happy chortle out as they covered the short distance down the hall to their master bedroom, which was next to the on Fia was sleeping in. "Cause I'm just so dramatic."
She laughed a bit as she opened the door to their bedroom, "You know you are. But I love you for it so it's fine by me."
"You love me because of it or despite it?" He slurred out philosophically, pushing their bedroom door the rest of the way open to reveal their massive, luxuriously modern space.
"Both." She said with a loving, joking smile as she let go of his hand to go take out her hair and change. She walked across the dark wood floors and to their large, modern master bathroom. She walked to her sink and slipped her still straight brown hair out of its ponytail and began on the tedious task of removing her eye makeup from her darker brown eyes.
"I am going to brush your hair for you." He announced, coming up behind her with her brush. "I want to get to sleep and apparently this is something romantic for a guy to do." He smiled down at her hair as he began to oh so carefully run the brush through it.
She smiled at him through the mirror as she finished removing her make up and backed away from the counter, turning around and facing him, "You don't have to, it's okay. Go to bed. I know you're tired. I'll meet you in there."
He smiled into her eyes, though his own were slightly glazed over. "I can't sleep until you are done making noise with the lights on and humming."
She smiled back at him. "Then read while I change. It will only take me a minute."
"You know I don't read." He muttered, obediently leaving the bathroom and pulling his shirt off as he did so, making a beeline for the huge bed.
She smiled at his back as she turned and walked into their combined walk-in closet. She slipped out of her jeans and pulled on some soft shorts before changing into a tank-top. She walked back out, flicking the light off as she went, and climbed into her side of the bed, pulling the black and white comforter over her.
