Author's Note: This story entered my head at work and wouldn't leave so I brought it to life. I'm a little familiar with Neko, but not in-depth. If I get things wrong, forgive me. It is fiction after all. Also, whilst this came to me at work, it is going to be decidedly NSFW. Things will happen.
Walking through the forest, I was happy. I smelled the pine, and enjoyed the wind rushing through my hair. It stirred the branches, I spread out my hands and felt it rush through my fingers.
I was at the end of my two week trip to the woods. It was a very isolated place. Cell phones still didn't work here. I supposed satellite phones would work, but I didn't own one. I walked to the cliff that overlooked the lake I was staying by. I pulled out my binoculars and slowly swept the sky. I wasn't like Luke Skywalker, dreaming of far off planets and battling the Empire while he was stuck on Tatooine, but I enjoyed the stars. So peaceful.
As I enjoyed my stargazing, I began to sing "Stars" from Les Miserables. I wasn't a great singer by any stretch of the imagination. I liked musicals, opera, rock....well...pretty much most genres except for country. When I was alone in my car (which was always, because I was single) I sang along to the songs. I was nearly finished with the song when I saw it.
"This I swear by...Great Caesar's Ghost!" I exclaimed. It looked like a meteorite was coming in. Almost right towards me! I dropped my $700 binoculars, and dashed behind a tree for whatever feeble protection it would give. I peeked out and saw some sort of space capsule plummet into the lake! It was going too fast to identify markings, but no doubt whatever country owned it would want their astronauts back, dead or alive. I knew in such a remote area, I was the closest person. I could try and pull them from the wreckage, place them in my truck and rush to the hospital, calling ahead once I got a cell signal.
Knowing I had no time, I shrugged off my backpack, grabbed the rope I carried, and tied it around the tree. I made a hasty but strong knot. I wanted to make it to the capsule before it sunk, making retrieval even harder. Throwing the rope over the edge, I saw that the fifty foot length wasn't quite enough to reach the lake. I didn't care. I kicked off my hiking boots and pulled off my shirt before grabbing the rope with both hands and sliding down like some kind of swashbuckling pirate.
I didn't have gloves on. They were home, on the bench in my garage. I'd remembered them two hours into the three hour drive. The rope burned into my hands. I screamed as I slid down the rope. Part in fear, but mostly in pain. Letting go of the end of the rope, I plunged twenty more feet, and into the cool water. Finally, I came back up, and though my palms and fingers hurt like hell, I began swimming to the capsule which had begun to take on water. I got to the nose of the oblong capsule, and saw the windows had been broken out. That made it easier to pull myself in, so I could begin a rescue. I cut my leg on a shard still embedded in the window frame.
"Great. I'm going to need medical attention too," I groused as my eyes adjusted to the dark cockpit. I could see one slender form, and I grabbed the knife I kept sheathed at my waist. Lucky it didn't fall out during the journey. I quickly sliced the restraints open, and pulled the figure to me. I saw there was nobody else in the cockpit.
Being careful going through the window again, I pulled the limp form out, and began taking us to shore. When the water was to our knees, I began to drag the astronaut to shore. When I was sure there was no more risk of drowning, I knelt and pulled off the helmet. The figure had a beautiful face. The features seemed feminine, so I assumed it was a woman. She had on that white swimming cap that all astronauts seemed to wear under their helmets. Her face kind of looked funny. The moon was hidden behind some trees, so I assumed it was a trick of the light. She coughed.
