"Breaking News: Three teenage girls have been reported missing. The three girls are Brooke Washington, Alexis Parker, and Zoey Collins. These girls are suspected to have been kidnapped by the same person and/or group as they all vanished around 8 P.M. The police believe that they may be being involuntarily forced into prostitution. If you have any information, please contact the number on your screen."

I stared at the screen in disbelief as the newswoman continued on with the news. But before she did so, photographs of the girls, their ages, and other personal information flashed across the screen. Brooke Washington is 17, Alexis Parker - 17, and Zoey Collins - 18. I started thinking about what they are going through, if they are still alive. Thoughts chased after each other in my head, round and round. What if that was me? What are they going through? Are the kidnappers still out hunting? A chill went down my spine as more and more of these thoughts entered my head, filling me with fear and negativity. That will never happen to me. Never. I live in New York City, these things happen all the time. This is nothing new, so why be worried now?

My phone started ringing and I was snapped out of my trance. I didn't know where my phone was, so I just followed the sound. I exited the living room as the sound got closer and louder. I entered the kitchen and found my phone laying on the counter. I looked at the caller ID. Jessica, my best friend, was calling me.

"Sydney! School starts in 20 minutes! If you don't get your lazy ass out here in 5 minutes, I'm leaving!" she screamed through the phone, causing me to pull the phone away from ear.

"Calm down Jess! Don't get your thong in a wad, I'm coming!" I said whilst laughing.

"Syd, I can see through your living room window. I know your not ready. Your wearing a pink tank top with blue short shorts that have clouds on them. By the way, you might want to close that window. You never know what kind of perverts, like Matt, or axe murderers are watching. Oh, by the way, Matt said he likes what he sees." Jessica said through fits of laughter. In the background, I heard Matt say, "I like what I see, I like it a lot."

"Shut up you guys! I'm going to get ready!" I said while blushing. Matt has been friends with Jess and I since elementary school.

I raced up the stairs trying my best not to trip. Finally, I reached the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Then, I applied some BB Cream and mascara. I then went into my room and put on a clean T-shirt and a pair of jeans. I accessorized my outfit with my Dr. Martens, a couple bracelets, and pearl earrings. I looked at myself in the mirror. My long, brown hair flowed over my shoulders, framing my face. My blue eyes stared back at me.

HOONNNKKKK!!!

Shit.

I raced downstairs barely missing the last step. When I got to Jess' car, I hopped in the front seat, throwing my backpack in the back. "You owe me." Jess said, playing.

"Actually, you owe me," Matt said, leaning forward, whispering in Jessica's ear. She rolled her eyes. I looked at her furrowing my eyebrows. She mouthed, 'Tell you later.' I nodded. Jessica and Matt have dated a couple times throughout the years, yet they are still best friends, it's complicated. There was an awkward silence that followed Matt's comment, so Jess turned on the radio, full volume.

When we got to school, or should I say hell, Jess and I walked to Math class, as Matt headed to Science.

Jessica and I walked through the halls, to our lockers. She got out her textbook, while anxiously biting her lip. She knew I was getting suspicious and was about to bring up the conversation that she wanted to avoid the most. I couldn't hold it in any longer. I have to know.
