You know how girls always have that one guy in there life, sometimes more than one. Well I don't and never have. I've never been 'serious' with someone and I haven't wanted to be either. I don't want to be weighed down or controlled. I want to finish school, get a job, a car, and my life figured out then go out looking when I'm older. Other people have different ideas of how they want to spend their life but that is mine.***
"Is everything packed?" my mom yells from the kitchen.
"Yeah, it's all in the car" I yell back quieter. We're leaving for California, which is nearly a three day trip. We decided to drive since my mom is terrified of planes. Her and my dad had split up a few years ago so it was just us. She's driving and I'm navigating the trip. Therefore, we both need to stay up the whole time.
As we got driving, it was going by pretty fast. It wasn't until we got within 5 hours of our destination point where we got to the point where we thought we were going to pass out. Two nights at hotels then finally, we were there.
Living on only 2-3 hours of sleep for those nights until we finally made it to Antelope, California. The plan was to stay at a friend's house for the whole vacation but plans changed. Now we have to put out extra money and go to a hotel instead.
"Three more bags! Here's the key" my mom shouts across the parking lot as she tosses the key to me. I grab the bags and walk to the doors, slipping the extra key in the slot until it buzzes. Pulling the door open with my free hand, I yank the bags through the small opening before strolling down the hall toward the hotel room. Slidding the key into the slot once again, until I could procede into the room. I throw the bags down then collapse onto the bed I'm going to sleep on tonight. I plug my phone in and sit it on the nightstand before passing out from exhaustion.

I wake up suddenly from sirens ringing, voices shouting, and pounding on the door. I smell a strong smell of something burning as I jump out of bed and grab a pair of shorts and tank top to throw on. I can hardly see, using my hands to guide myself to the exit of the room. I try to talk to the few people in the hall but they practically ignore me, leaving me standing awkwardly by myself. Finally I see the manager walking toward me. I meet him in the middle of the hall then he tells me to follow him as he turns back around from where he came from.
"I'm Paul, the manager. You're going to have to stay in room #214 on the second floor for the night" Paul says.
"But why?" I ask. I don't think anyone would be happy if they were to be awaken then put in a new room in the middle of the night.
"There was a small fire in the vent to your room but it's all dealt with. Everything is safe, but it's a requirement to have that room on lockdown until we get it checked out." He tells me as he walks down the hall. "You will be sharing a two person room with another adult for the night until we can find you a new room."
"I have to share a room with a complete stranger? Just what I want" I mumble. I roll my eyes as I grab the key out his hand before walking toward the elevator. I'm usually much more respectful but I am not on the mood.
"Our guests here are responsible, I don't think you'll have any difficulty in the room tonight. Try to enjoy your stay." he says flatly. I click the elevator button as it creak to a stop at my floor. The doors stop just before they open completely. Leaving enough room for me to fit in. I glance for the second floor button and quickly click it. I can't wait to get to the room and go to sleep. But I guess it'll have to wait because within 20 seconds, the elevator sqeaks to a hault between floors. Stopping rather abrutly.
I glance around the elevator, just noticing a guy around his early twenties. I could tell he was obviously annoyed by the way he was tapping his foot. As I look closer, I realize I know him. We went all throughout school together. I had a crush on him in elementary school but I was always too shy to talk to him. It wasn't until middle school that we had actually started talking and became close. We only talked during class and only hungout out of school a few times even though we were bestfriends. I was always busy with dance classes and clubs I was in after school to hangout with friends. We had almost every class together during our last year of school together and he was the only person I talked to until he moved. I knew he moved to California but never thought I'd run into him again.
"Umm, did it just stop?" my voice came out shakier than I planned. I straightened up trying to seem less scared.
"Sure did, it does it about every fucking day" he chuckled while stepping toward the door then giving it a good kick with his leg.
"You have to be kidding me. How long does it take to get working again?" I am beyond annoyed at this moment. I just want to go to sleep.
"Depends, could work in a minute or in twenty. It has a mind of it's own." he slumped down to the ground. "But I've never been stuck in here with a little goody goody before, guess there's a first for everything." he chuckled. I glance up at him realizing he recognized me. I mean how wouldn't he?
"Did you just call me a goody goody?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Just stating the obvious." he smirks as he pulls out his phone and starts to play on it.
"How would you know?" I growl before sitting down on the other side of the elevator. I'm glad to see him but I am beyond exhausted. I never have patience with people when I'm tired.
"Well from how I remember you do everything everyone wants and keep your grades up. Never had alcohol, drugs, or any fun. You stress about everything, you're a goody goody." he says simply. He was completely right. I was exactly the same as he remembered. I had just graduated from highschool and had just a few friends which never invited me to do anything. They weren't very close to me since I never had time. I was working hard to stay caught up in school so I could graduate on time and I had a free clubs I was in. I no longer were in dance but I had a job at a yogurt shop which took up all the free time that I did have. But I wasnt going to let him get away with calling me that after us not talking for almost 3 years.
"Exactly, from what you remember. You don't know me now." I spit out, glancing to him.
"Oh Addy, you'll always be miss goody goody in my eyes." he winks before he stands up as the elevator beeps and begins to move again. Finally.
"Thank goodness, I'm not in the mood to deal with you right now." I move closer to the door waiting for it to open.
"I can say the same, still as grumpy at night as you always were." he begins tapping his foot again. We used to text at night before I went to bed so he knew how I was. He always told me to go to bed once I started to get an attitude from being tired.
"Hopefully my "roommate" for the night won't be annoying." I mumble. Stepping into the hall and turning left toward #214. He was still behind me.
"Are you following me now?" I snap at him as I got to the room. He runs his hand through his hair then smirks "Well I'm sorry to tell you".
"What?", I'm partly confused at what he was thinking.
"Your roommate is defintely annoying", he lets out a laugh not trying to hide how hilarioud he found the situation.
"What are you talking about?" I hiss. Trying to figure out what he was talking about.
"This is my room", he slides his key through the slot and pushes the door open. "Left side is your's, right is mine.", he shouts as I lose sight of him. He walks past the beds and into what I'm guessing is the bathroom.
I guess I just found out my new roommate for the night.
