(Axel's P.O.V.)
"Alright, now. Are you sure you're ok? You know if you forget anything, I'll send it with your brother when he moves in on Sunday." Mom asked me, giving my room a once over.
I nodded, "I think I'm fine."
"Ok.....and try to make friends, ok? I know you'd rather keep to yourself, but one day you might need some friends." She hugged me and kissed the top of my head.
"I'll be fine, Mom. Plus, Alistair already told me."
Her eyes softened as she said her goodbyes.
She left a few minutes later.
I sighed when I realized that I had to unpack.
Also, my roommate isn't here, yet. And I can only imagine how that's gonna go.
I started unpacking, slowly.
My phone vibrated, but I figured it was Alistair asking how I was doing so far. So naturally, I ignored it.
It's not like I don't appreciate him willing to help me out. But I'm tired of him babying me, all the time, just because I don't have any friends.
The thought alone depressed me.
Just as I had all of my clothes put away, the door unlocked and swung open.
A boy with black hair and pale blue eyes stepped in.
He looked at me and beamed, "Hello!"
"....hi."
"I'm Evan Cooper, it's nice to meet you! You're Axel, I saw on the portal."
"Um. Yeah."
"It's nice to meet you!"
You already said that.
"It's nice to meet you, too."
He looked around the dorm, "You look like an organized guy. Good to know I'm not living with a-!"
I stared at him, waiting for him to continue.
He hummed, but offered me a lopsided grin, "I was going to say 'pig', but I wasn't meaning to insult you."
Oh.
"It's fine."
He dragged in several bags and boxes from the hallway.
"Also, if you don't mind, I'm going to have my bed lofted, so the desk can go under it." He said, "There's gotta be space in here."
I hesitantly nodded, "Sure."
".....you don't talk much, huh?"
I was slightly taken aback at how forward he was being.
"Uh. I mean, I don't have many friends, so I'm not used to talking a lot."
He laughed, "Hey, don't sweat it. My cousin doesn't talk a lot either, and he's the best. You don't have to talk to be friends with someone. But let me warn you, I talk , like, all the time. So, if I'm ever talking too much, you can either ignore me, or tell me to shut up."
I blinked, "......ok....?"
He continued to talk about random things as he unpacked his bags.
(Later on....)
(Nathan's P.O.V.)It's been a few hours since Evan went to the school to move in.
I was sitting on my bed, watching tv with Jess, who was sitting on my floor.
Our Siberian husky, Pi, was lying down next to him.
My phone buzzed.
I saw that Evan texted me, basically saying that his roommate is awesome.
"Evan says that his roommate tolerates his constant blabbering. Looks like he won't be having much trouble." I mentioned.
I figured Jess wouldn't answer, as usual. He doesn't usually say anything if nothing needs to be said.
"I didn't think he would." He quietly said.
I glanced down at him, "What do you mean??"
"......Evan's roommate is Alistair's younger brother. I've never met him, but Alistair has talked about him before. He seems fine." He told me.
This is news to me.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"You're not one to worry much, so I didn't think of it."
Well. He's not wrong.
Evan knows how to handle himself, thanks to Jess.
Unlike my brother, I'm not really big on fighting. That's not to say I wouldn't fight to protect someone else, but I don't seek out fights.
Jesse never seems to have to worry. The fights usually end up finding him.
