Chapter 14

Meagan

I must have blacked out during the terrible ordeal because the next thing I knew I woke up slumped in the same dingy, disgusting room I was being held in yet Ivan was nowhere to be seen.

Taking a deep breath I sat up feeling the scars that would unavoidably remain no matter how my body tried to heal. The only thing that really kept me sane was the memories of Stiles that were playing on a loop in my head.

Stiles and I subtly flirting with each other over the years.

Stiles helping me train.

Stiles finally telling me he loves me.

Stiles holding me and taking my pain during the Moon.

The first kiss Stiles and I shared.

As the images swirled in my brain, I caught the trace of Stiles' scent and I know I must have been imagining it. I was after all thinking about the memories we shared and he was on my mind. Then I caught a whiff of Ivan's stench and all happy thoughts were squashed by inexpiable dread.

"Hello, darling. How are you today?" He asked me with a sickly sadistic smile on his face. He leaned down so that his face was even with mine and before I could think about moving he mashed his mouth on mine, kissing me. I sat there and let it happen for fear of him doing something worse.

Suddenly Ivan pulled back as if he had been bitten. His head swiveled to the left and right and lifted his nose to the air, in a sniffing like motion. He took a deep inhale, then let out a growl that made the hairs on my arms rise. "He couldn't just leave us alone... Always in the way." His gaze returned to me then, saying "Don't worry honey I'll be back after I take care of him."

Once he was out of the room I began scenting the air around me and almost felt myself break under the weight of relief and hope. I could smell the Sheriff's scent and the faintest traces of..Stiles.

I pulled against whatever binding Ivan had been keeping me in ignoring the pain slicing through my wrists and arms as the restraints cut into my skin.

I pulled as hard as I could but I was simply to drained after the whole experience to put up much of  fight. So I did what I knew I could. Thinking over what I knew about wolves, the animal not the mystical kind, I remembered that if any member of the pack was in trouble the one sure fire way to alert the rest of the pack was to howl.

Tilting my head back, I let my mind relive the horrors of what I had just lived through. Letting the anger and pain and despair fuel the shift. I took a breath in and released  them all out  in an agonized roar-like howl that shook the walls to which I was tied.

Stiles

As soon as I set foot in the remains of the house as my dad was running around outside to distract Ivan, I could smell his scent mixed with hers. Making sure to avoid where his scent was the strongest I quietly made my way through the house.

I soon heard the grunts and low growls of Dad and Ivan fighting outside, the sound making me move a bit quicker through the ruined hallways. Just as I was beginning to panic at the fact that I hadn't found her I felt the walls begin to shake and I heard her calling me in a very wolf-like way.

The pain and agony in her howl shattered my heart into a thousand pieces, yet it egged my movements on, pushing me closer to her as fast as I could.

He burst into the room just as she slumped over in exhaustion. The sight of him brought tears to her eyes as he ran over to her pulling her close in a hug. Her whimper and wince alerted him to the gravity of just how much she had been through.

She was sobbing uncontrollably at this point, though she didn't know if it was out of joy at seeing him or out of shame at what Ivan had done to her.

Stiles went to the wall and yanked the chain from its hinges, before returning to Meagan's  side easily removing the restraints from her injured arms.

Scooping her into his arms he ran out of the building and saw his father standing over an unconscious Ivan.

"What did you do to him Dad?" Stiles asked the man noticing the scratches and cuts on his fathers arms and across his shoulders.  "A lot less than he deserved."  The Sheriff huffed moving over to handcuff the man. Stiles set Meagan down for a moment as he made his way over to the man lying stiffly on the ground.

He felt his hands extend to claws and he eyes burned as the blood red leaked into them. With a swift kick Ivan flew a good ten yards from the group. Stiles then sat Ivan up and shoved his claws into the back of his neck.

Searching through his memories Stiles felt his eyes widen and his stomach turn as he saw what Meagan had gone through and blocked out of her own memory. "Oh my God..." Stiles said looking to the woman he loved that was still sobbing lightly. His eyes immediately returned to their warm whiskey color as he released Ivan to face whatever his punishment would be. Crossing over to Meagan he scooped her into his arms and held her as she cried into his shirt.

I knew Stiles had seen what Ivan did to me when he searched his memories and all I could do was cry. He just held me as I cried over what had happened to me and over the shame I felt at letting it happen.

As if he could read my thoughts, Stiles pulled back and said, "None of this is your fault. This is all on Ivan." And while I knew he was right, I still knew that I would feel these scars my whole life, and there was no getting around that.
