When Jason and Luke got to class, their History teacher Mrs Scoffwood was already waiting for them with a bunch of textbooks. All the students started to fill into the classrooms and take their seats. There was a bit of chit chatter before the class silenced and focused on what Mrs Scoffwood began writing on the chalk board
"Alpha Springs!" She said in a rough voice, "Who can tell me anything about it ?"
The entire class was silent. Jason peered out of the window nearby and Luke sat silently behind texting Rachel Swan, his crush since eighth grade.
"Anderson!" Mrs Scoffwood demanded
Luke hid his phone and looked up. Mrs Scoffwood walked up to Luke expressionless.
"How old do you think this town is ?" She asked him raising an eyebrow
"Uhh. . . Urhmm. . . " Luke felt nervous and pressurized almost as if the walls were closing in on him. He looked around for answers and looked back at Mrs Scoffwood "ten years?" He asked nervously. The rest of the class giggled. Mrs Scoffwood let out a sigh. Almost as if she was expecting him to get this one question right.
"Wrong! Alpha Springs, the town you breathing air from, the town you expand your family ties in, the town you depend on, is infact, two hundred years old. Two centuries old," Mrs Scoffwood continued blabbing a bunch of other dates in the class. Jason turned around with a huge smile on his face.
"I have a feeling. . . " He started, "its weird i know, but i have a feeling this class is going to kill me soon"
"And," Luke raised an eyebrow, "you smiling because . . . ?"
"I like the idea of it," Jason said, "its thrilling."
After class Jason and Luke walked through the assembly area. Luke was hoping to catch a glimpse of Rachel.
" Since eight grade began till now, you still haven't told her you like her." Jason said
"Its . . . Difficult. I'm . . . Working on it" Luke stuttered
Mrs Scoffwood gave out activity sheets for homework and Jason and Luke left class
