Prologue (Part Two)
(CASSIE waiting for the bus after school. Bored, and anxious to get on. A guy, around the same age walks up, and sits beside her. There are a few moments of awkward silence, when the stranger ( JARED) speaks.)
JARED
Hey.
CASSIE
Hey.
(Awkward pause)
JARED
Nice...uh..weather.
CASSIE
Well, aren't you original.
JARED
At least I'm nicer than you...
CASSIE
My mother always said I was a heartless beast.
(Jared shoots her a bewildered look)
CASSIE
Well, maybe she was aiming it towards the dog...
(Awkward pause)
JARED
So..... Got any cool stories?
CASSIE
(thinks for a moment, and laughs to herself)
Sort of. Not sure if you'd be interested though.
JARED
Try me.
CASSIE
Well... It starts with a suicide attempt and some paper clips.
JARED
Gee, aren't you a ray for sunshine.
CASSIE
Hey! Sarcasm's my thing!
JARED
Not in this world, sweet cheeks.
CASSIE
I was here first!
JARED
And I was born first. So shut up and get on with the story.
CASSIE

(Pause)
JARED
So, you gonna tell me, or not?
CASSIE
It's kinda long...
JARED
( Checks watch)
We've got time.
CASSIE
And cheesy..
JARED
I'm listening.
CASSIE
Okay, okay, give me a sec to think.
(Deep breath)
CASSIE
Okay, so, like I said, it started with a suicide attempt. Which was stupid. Really stupid.
JARED
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've established that already. Go on.
