Chapter 2

Adina walked inside the quirky tent and started to set up the double sleeping bag.

"It won't get too cold outside," she thought to herself, "I bet i will be just fine sleeping without anything, cause it's really hot and," she stopped, "I will be fine." She continued unfolding the sleeping bag and found a pillow tucked inside it. "How generous, they packed us a pillow," her words dripping with sarcasm.

"Adina!" Winn yells from the riverside, "I know i'm naked, but-"

"Heads up: don't ever start a sentence like that!" Adina cuts him off from inside the tent.

"If you'd let me finish!" He yells the last word, "I was going to say that you need to come in the water, it's so refreshing!"

"Nu uh," Adina shakes her head, even though he can't see her, "You just reminded me of something, oh wait, what was it? Oh yeah, you're naked!" she screams, "Now get dressed, I'd like to eat something without seeing your testicles," she shivers at the thought.

Winn agrees to her plans of getting something to eat, so he gets out and throws on his clothes. "Alright, i'm good," he yells to her. Adina walks out of the tent suspiciously, but then once sees he's actually dressed, continues without a worry. "Well, we should probably eat small portions, so we have enough to last us a while," Winn says looking at all the food. Adina raises her head to him, ready to argue about being here for any longer. Winn takes notice of that and says carefully, "Just in case."

Adina looks back at the food, to tired to put up a fight. "What happened to your braveness, Adina?" she asks herself, "Wow, I feel pathetic."

"So," Winn starts, "Lets split a bag of Teddy Grahams, and each eat a granola bar," he plans.

"Why can't we both just have two granola bars?" Adina ask.

"Because, if you eat less different kinds of foods, you'll get full faster," he smiles. Adina lowers the corners of her mouth, silently saying, 'Not bad, bud'.

They go grab some old tree logs and some sticks and make a cliche looking campfire, using the logs as seats and the sticks for a fire. They use matches, that they had found in their backpacks, to start the fire up and they sit to eat their makeshift 'dinner' as the sun sets.

"Do you really think we'll be here for any longer then a day?" Adina asks Winn.

"I really don't know, Adina," he shrugs, taking another bite of his granola bar, "It's hard to tell, cause we did go off the path that we were on with the troop, so if people come and try to find us, they'll have to look farther."

Adina wasn't very happy with his answer. A big wave of fear came crashing down on her, like a wave crashing on the beach. "Winn?" she whispers. Winn hums in acknowledgement. "I'm scared," she states, "What if we never get out? What if we are stuck in this forest for years, and we forget about everything and everybody? What if we become like cavemen and-"

"Adina, we're not going to become like cavemen," Winn chuckles. Adina looks at him with hurt in her eyes. "And we're not going to be stuck here for years, we'll follow the river down until we get to a town or something," he crumbles his trash up in his hands, "Plus, we'll probably die because of hunger if we do get lost for years."

"Winn!" Adina yells at him, standing up in fury. He doesn't understand. He doesn't understand that Adina is scared out of her mind. She doesn't want to think about never seeing her family again, or never seeing her friends. How will she ever be able to pursue her dreams of becoming an actor? How will she be there for her little brother when he starts to go to middle school? Middle school is the scariest thing for a kid. It was awful for her, how will he survive it? How will anyone survive without her? How will her dad cope? Will her mom even care? Of course her mom will care, she bawls her eyes out whenever she's late from a rehearsal! How will she get to rehearsals? She's got one this Monday! How will she get there? If she's stuck in a forest for a week, she'll miss practices! If she's stuck in a forest for any longer she might just freak out! Or die!
