we loved like summer

Winter— the crisp, white snow had totally stiffed summer. It was as if someone had laid a glowing white sheet over what was once summer and put it to bed. The world seemed to fall silent when shimmering snowflakes descend slowly, yet gracefully from the grey, clouded skies down onto earth- a scene you can't help but feel captivated by.

Yerim was just minding her own business, you know the usual, chatting with Saeron over the phone (it had been quite a long while since the two have last met after all- and well, the girls were already out) as she holds onto her cup of hot chocolate.

She pushes loose strands of her bangs out of her face before taking a sip of the hot chocolate, letting the savoury liquid warm her entire body. It was already late February and the weather was chillier than usual. Yerim shivers as she pulls on her knitted sweater tightly around her body, trying to find some warmth.

"Yerimie, are you listening?" Saeron asks from the other end of the line.

Torn out of her daydream, she blinks repeatedly while she tries to recall her friend's chattering.

"Uhh, yeah."

"What was I talking about then?"

"Erm," Placing the phone between her cheeks and her shoulder, she cups both her hands onto the cup of hot chocolate, "it's something to do with Ah Ron's whining, isn't it?" She presumes.

Huffing, she replies, "Lucky guess."

Yerim chuckles. Just a few months ago, Saeron surprised her with a sudden phone call in the middle of the night without warning, sounding extremely frustrated and strained. Thinking it was some sort of emergency, she shot out of bed and left her room quietly to comfort her friend only to find out that she had fought with her younger sister.

Ah Ron, who had been the last to join her sisters in the spotlight, had not participated in any production since her debut due to her decision to focus on her studies instead. So when she admitted to Saeron that she wanted to get back into her acting career just recently, Saeron had been extremely unhappy as she assumed the younger wasn't weighing her decisions seriously.

Yerim personally thought that Saeron's feelings were understandable though, since she herself is the oldest amongst her other three sisters. She always felt the need to be extra protective of her family, not wanting any of them to fall as victims, knowing how harsh the industry can be. There wasn't room for people with half-hearted mindsets at all.

The two had come to a compromise afterwards when Ah Ron agreed to take up acting classes again, wanting to prove her sister wrong. She just found her tutor a little overbearing, hence the daily rants to Saeron about him.

"Well, you can tell she's really passionate during her acting classes now at least," Yerim says, smiling as she spots her squirtle soft toy lying on the opposite side of the sofa, a gift she had received during one of their fan meets previously. "Plus, it's not like you weren't in her position before."

Saeron hums in agreement.

"True. I mean I did always complain to you about that shitty schedule I used to have, didn't I?" She sighs, "I guess she's just going through what I went through previously, I just hope she knows what she's in for."

Lifting up her cup to sip her hot chocolate again, Yerim places it back down when she hears the doorbell ring.

"Hang on, there's someone at the door." She replies while grabbing her keys on the counter as she moves towards the front door to see who it is at such an odd timing of the day.

Unlocking and pushing the door open, she looks up only to find Jeon Jungkook standing outside the doorstep, his nose and earlobes fanned with the colour of red. Judging by his messed up hair and the huge, thin-layered coat he's wearing, he must've come straight from the airport. He had been so busy with his world tour lately that she rarely had the time to even properly talk to him.
