     "Hey Bakugo!"

A mess of spiky red hair could be seen over the crowd as Kirishima pushed and shoved through the sea of grey uniforms. After stumbling past a vividly pink girl, and stepping on the foot of someone who let out a bird-like screech, he quickly dusted himself down and beamed happily up at his destination, so to speak.

     Bakugo, however, was less amused.

"Oi Stupid Hair, you're embarrassing yourself." While others would have faltered at those words, Kirishima only laughed at the permanent frown on the blonde's face. And the fact that he always insisted on using that nickname rather than his actual name. Well...it was kinda cute actually. Kirishima briefly shook his head to clear his thoughts before replying.

"Ah, don't you remember? I was talking to you just a minute ago, when we were walking from the dorms, and you got lost in this crowd!"

Bakugo just stared. "Are you f**king serious?! You ran all this way just to finish a sh*tty one-sided conversa-" He felt a sudden tug at his gut, and sneered at the redhead. "What's to say I didn't walk off on purpose, huh?"

"Yeah sure, but don't you remember what we were talking about? You seemed pretty interested for once..."

Bakugo turned sharply on his heel and started down the now sparsely populated corridor. "Get to the point."

Following at his heels, Kirishima kept babbling. "Well, remember when Aizawa-sensei said that Miss Midnight would be covering class today?" Bakugo thought back to yesterday, when their scruffy, dry eyed teacher had recited the news in his usual flat tone of voice.

"So?! You planning to ogle at that shameless b*tch all day? Keep it to yourself, moron." Kirishima leaned across to protest, before noticing the unfamiliar expression that adorned Bakugou's face. Was he...offended? Nervous? No, that wasn't it. With a heavy sigh he continued.

"If you'd let me FINISH, as I was saying, it's unusual for him to let another teacher take over the lesson unless we're doing some crazy awesome group activity!" Bakugou cringed at the terrible grammar and stopped walking to place a hand on the door of their classroom.

"Don't get yourself overexcited Stupid Hair. It's probably nothing anyway. Jeez- You always get too worked up about nothing, so how about you shut up for once." So what if he was being harsh. The redhead was starting to seriously irritate him now, and he was just glad that any practical work today would shut him up. He blew the door open with a short burst of flames from his palm.

     "Bakugou and Kirishima!"

Bakugou open his mouth to let out a snide remark, however, upon looking at a class of faces that stared back with an expression other than disappointment, he realised that this probably wasn't about their lateness.

"Huh?" Was all he could be bothered with.

The woman at the front of the class turned to the students who's names she had just called out, her long, jet black hair sweeping across her back.

"You two will be in a pair for today's exercise! Iida, if you would please explain the rules while I call out the rest of the names?"

Bakugou trudged over to his seat, glaring pointedly at each and every one of his classmates' faces, before roughly slinging his bag over the back of his chair and swinging his legs onto the desk as he sat down. No one dared to challenge him, but when a well-built, blue haired boy turned in his seat Bakugou sent sparks flying from his hand.

     "What is it, Robo-cop?"

"Miss Midnight simply requested that I explain the task at hand to you. However, while we are on the subject of manners-"

     "Who asked you, dipsh*t?!"

Iida adjusted his glasses, undeterred, and continued. "As I was saying, the task at hand. To quote Miss Midnight, today is to be a basic cooperation exercise for the whole class. When we become pro heroes, there will be situations in which we will be forced to work with others due to the nature of the villain's quirk. A major barrier to reigning victorious are the differences between heroes- there are too many examples of heroes losing battles simply because they turned on one another just out of self interest and conflict between personalities. For this reason, Miss Midnight has decided to 'randomly' pair us up for the day, in order for us to learn to work well with others in situations that require teamwork. So-"

     "Blah. Blah. Blah."

     "I beg your pardon?!"

"So which one of you sh*t faces am i meant to put up with all day?!" Iida looked offended, but thought better of arguing.

"If you had been paying attention, Miss Midnight already announced that when you entered the classroom." He sniffed and spun in his seat to face Kirishima, who had been waiting eagerly to hear about the activity.

The blonde turned around to stare at the teacher, who was still listing off pairs. Random, huh? The whole class knew Kirishima was the only one he could tolerate even slightly, and he wouldn't put it past the teachers to be aware of that too. Random? No. Bakugou smirked. He knew the others may have been matched up that way, but the teachers knew he'll have blown anyone else in the class to smithereens by noon. It only proved that they knew he was the most independent. Ha. He didn't need anyone. All Might didn't need anyone either. Bakugou was the best of the best. He was going to be the number one hero and Deku could go jump off a-

Bakugou's gaze had strayed over to Kirishima, just as Iida had finished explaining. Why were the redhead's cheeks tinted red? Was he...blushing? Bakugou furrowed his brow in a mix of irritation and confusion before he followed Kirishima's line of sight to a shiny metal device dangling from Miss Midnight's hand.

She held up the handcuff for the whole class to see.

"There's enough for one to a pair- you didn't think you could back out now, did you?"

There was a collective groan and a lisping, evil-sounding laugh, followed by a sharp slap to the face.
