Dedicated to Lams_Chops
I could start off any story with once apon a time
Hoping for a fairy tale ending
Filled with hope and belonging.
But that's not how our story begins.
I'm sure you'll laugh as I once did
At my awkward nature
and over eager outlook
covering up the cracks in my facade.
Your eyes glowed like emeralds in a river with more mud and rocks than all the rivers in Britain.
Mine matched the dreary scenery
Yet my eyes seemed to capture yours
For a second longer than necessary-
You see you confused me
And tore me apart slowly
Forcing blood upon my cheeks
A spoiler alert in the story we had begun
Singing songs at lunch tables
Basking in the afternoon sun, amongst the "hellos" and the "My name is" and we focused on nothing but the other one.
I remember the time I thought of you differently yet no one, not even me,
Realised the out come of my mind.
Hey, do you remember the dress rehearsal?
Finally you got it
After a month of confessing my sins to my friends and leaving breadcrumbs, even stones for you to follow,
You bumped into a Boulder even I did not expect.
I sigh perplexed at the series of actions to happen next,
An ocean of emotions and noises and rushing,
My cheeks are still flushing at the thought of those texts
The ones to finally create the context of this poem I sing now.
Love is a simple concept,
A song people share between themselves,
private and silent to rest of the world
And when that song ends so does love-
But if ones song ends before the other, perhaps it has buffered and created a gap so the song ends later. Maybe never at all.
But I know that gap has not been created,
Because like the stars that shine, we were fated
To meet and to glow,
And I know
That I'd follow you to the end of the world so
Look me in the eye-
Tell me what you see inside.
Is it the love I try to share through every word I say?
Or is my darkness that I've tried to keep hidden, and it seeps through the cracks even though it's forbidden.
I am choking on the words stapled in my mouth,
Cotton candy words of love
Mixed with card board cut out statements.
I push those thoughts away to bathe in this oasis we have created.
I dread our songs finale, because I know that happy ever afters exist only in fairy tales,
And we both have barely scraped the surface so believe me,
My beautiful gift,
I love you you more than words can say.
So here's to our future of messy and hazy, beautifully unpredictable situations and phases-
Because in your eyes I have found my simple,
Yet stunning haven, so blissfully true. Here's to our present- because endings don't begin until we say they do.
