sophie foster had her eyes glued to the clock. a tight crimson-red dress clung to her body and golden earrings hung from her ears. her golden blonde hair was straightened and it fell close to her hips. she even did her makeup for this, which was very unusual. her uniquely colored amber eyes were lined with eyeliner and dark, curled lashes. red lips added to the look as well.

sophie thought that the whole outfit was a little much, especially compared with what she usually wore, but she was going on her first date, and it was with her dream guy. she really wanted this to be special.

edaline, sophie's wonderful adoptive mother, came by and sat next to her daughter. "he'll be here any minute!" she chirped. strangely, she seemed even more excited than sophie. she had always pushed sophie to be with the guy she had a mega crush on, fitz vacker. technically, edaline was the reason sophie was going on this date. she had helped her daughter form a 'plan' to ask him out.

and, well, it worked. so here they were.

edaline clasped sophie's shaky hand. she could see her anxiousness in their eyes. "you'll do great, honey. if it doesn't work out, he isn't the one. okay? don't stress about it." she said the words sweetly and sincerely, so sophie tried her best to believe them.

"thanks mom... i love you." sophie smiled up at her turquoise-eyed mother.

"i love you too." edaline said, simultaneously with a knock on the door. she pecked the top of sophie's head. "that must be him, go on, have fun! i'll see you soon!"

sophie's stomach was filled with butterflies. she didn't want to get up, she didn't want to mess this up, but this was the only way for her to get him. she stood shakily, and sweat started to drip down her face. all of her little confidence for this date had vanished. "g-goodbye mom!" she stuttered. she tried to smile at her as she opened the door and stepped outside.

"sophie! you look beautiful!" the brunette boy said as sophie opened the door. his teal eyes scanned her up and down, causing a bright red blush to blossom from her cheeks.

"you look... you look great too!" like really, really great. luckily, she thought the last part to herself as she examined the teal-eyed boy. "well... should we get going now?"

fitz looked back up at her. "oh yeah, of course." he held out his hand for her to take, and, of course, she took it. he lead them both to the car, but he didn't start driving. instead, he looked over to sophie and did something very surprising. he kissed the blonde girl. "sophie... we aren't going on a date."

her heart dropped. "w-what do you mean? why not?" her curious voice was laced with sadness and heartbreak. it was small and weak. and... confused.

"i need you to be safe. this is the only way we can be. you know... you know about biana leaving. we need to leave too. we need to go to camp half-blood." he looked away from her. honestly, he was scared. fitz didn't know how sophie would react, he just hoped she would be okay with it. he really wanted her to be safe. she couldn't die. there was no way he was going to let her be killed by monsters if he could stop it.

this all started with a note. a note from fitz's younger sister, biana. she had ran away from home a few moths ago to go to the same place the two were going to now. but, she didn't tell anyone. no one. until the note. it came this morning. it had been months since they had seen biana, so of course they were relived when the note came. well, most of them were. fitz... he got angry, as usual. his short-temper was possibly his worst trait, though many seem to ignore it. he was glad she was okay, of course, but why wouldn't she tell anyone? why would she just run away, leaving her family and friends worried sick? he had cried himself to sleep for at least two weeks over her, for no reason. she was perfectly fine the whole time. but, that's beside the point. she told them she was okay, but that wasn't all. she had given them instructions to camp half-blood and told fitz to take sophie there. she had also given him some advice in the note and told him what to look out for.

fitz had decided to cancel the date and take sophie with him to camp half-blood. he did want to go on a date with her, obviously, but he also wanted her to be safe. so, he waited for her reaction anxiously.

"...okay." sophie said reluctantly. she was upset, but if what fitz was saying was true she knew she had to do this. "let's go."
