It's A Promise

Chapter 3

Alex P.O.V

I grab the tray of our Chinese food, while Val grabs our lemonades.
"What else would you like to do?" She looks ahead sticking her tongue out slightly in thought. I smile and walk over to a barren table and place the tray down and take the drinks from her hands and place them down as well.

"I think I'd like to go home..." I frown to myself and pull her chair out. She thanks me and takes a seat, making sure her dress smooths under her. I smile at the small details of her while I take my seat.

"You know I won't force you to not go home..." She smiles apologetically, and picks up her fork delicately and begins to eat her orange chicken. I sigh gently and begin to eat my own lunch. Savoring the zip and spice of my chicken. I catch Valerie looking at me, and I give a gentle smile.
I don't want her going home to that place. I make an expression that has Valerie asking me if I'm alright.

"Yes, yes I'm fine Valerie" I say calmly but it comes out much colder than I had intended, and she shivers from my tone. I reach my left hand out and grab her right hand, giving it a tight squeeze.

" Would you like me to keep the dresses at my place?"

This time she sighs and nods sadly; I give her an apologetic look. We finish up eating, and I go to throw our plates and tray away. Walking back to Valerie I notice some boy pestering her. I growl lowly and stalk over to the table.

"May I help you?" I ask bitterly, the boy turns to me cockily and looks me down. Obviously sizing me up, he opens his mouth and insults Valerie for being 'stuck up'. I step closer to him leaning my head down to speak to him, "I suggest you turn you're smug ass around and leave us be."

He interrupts me and I take another step closer causing him to back up in defense.

"Or you can deal with me, and I promise I'm not the one that will need a hospital." He verbally gulps and nods frantically, and scrams away from us. I sneer and turn my attention back to Valerie, her face showing shock.

I lean down to her, and I give her head a quick kiss.

"Well Mr. Moretti, who'd have thought you could be so dominating." She smiles slightly obviously holding in a laugh, I roll my eyes and help her stand up.

"Well he can't go disrespecting women, and mine at that." She blushes and stutters but never disagrees. I pick up the shopping bags and the two dresses. She picks up a few of the small shopping bags and starts to walk. I grab her purse which she, unsurprisingly, forgot and chuckle.
"Hey Val, you forget something?" I dangle her purse in front of her and she groans taking her purse. "Thanks." I smile and take her right hand in my left as we leave the mall.

Once at the car she opens the back door of my car and she rests the dresses and other shopping bags down on the seat. I open her door for her and she climbs in. She buckles up and I shut her door. Jogging over to my side I climb in and turn the engine on and buckle up shutting my door. I glance at Valerie and see her looking out her window. I grab her hand in mine and begin to drive out of the mall parking lot and down Holsen Road to take her back to Miss. Tantom's house, very reluctantly may I add.

I dropped her off and she took the bag with the hoodies. She wanted me to take her other things from her fear of her mom ruining them.
I gave her a quick hug and a gentle kiss to her forehead and waited till she shut the door and even a few minutes till I decided to go get a room at the hotel up the road.

"I refuse to leave her there"
I explain to my mother over the phone. She called me a few minutes after I left Valerie's.
"I understand dear..but just stay safe okay?"
I smile, and reassure my mother and we finally hang up as I'm entering the lot of the hotel.
I turn the car off and lean my for head on the steering wheel.. sighing I take the keys out and grab my brief case with documents I need to sign off on, and head into the hotels Lobby. The receptionist stares at me and calls me up to the front desk.
"What can I help you with Sir?" She sounds mid 20s and very annoyed at people. I hand her my card.
"I need a room for the night I'd prefer one on the first floor. I may need to leave quickly." She sighs and swipes my card and hands it back with a room card. I thank her and head into the hallway to get to room 10.
'at the end of the hallway..'
I find the room and unlock the door and push the door open and let it shut behind me while I set my things on the desk in the room in front of the surprisingly big window. I go to the bathroom and turn my phone's ringer all the way up and turn the shower on.
"I need to get work done.." I sigh stripping my shirt and pants off, tossing them the the other end of the bathroom by the door and take out a towel from the small closet and set it on the hanger by the shower doors. I strip my boxer briefs off and step into the steaming air of the shower, stepping under the stream of water I run my fingers through my hair.
"I hope Valerie is okay..I hope she will actually call me asap if her mom touches her.." I growl at the thought, and lather my hair with shampoo.
"She will..she always keeps her promises" I tell myself reassuring my heavy heart. I finish up in the shower and turn the steady stream of water off and grab my towel. I ruffle the towel through my hair to make it dry or at least just dampened.
"I want her to live with me..I can't keep her safe from her mother and anything if I can't be there asap.. not like I'm gonna stalk her but if she's with me at my place I can protect her.." I wrap the towel around my waist and grab my clothes and walk out of the bathroom and into the room. I set my phone on the desk and take the sweats and shirt I bought for myself and slip them on..
'good job Alex you didn't get any briefs.. great' I laugh at myself and sit at the desk and pull my laptop and papers out to begin researching and signing papers.
